I just came back from Hilliards and the sign on the door says "CLOSED NO LOOKING AROUND." I knocked on the door many times and nobody answered. I did hear an electric motor running, like an air conditioner, at the back of the house. It's really hot here today. I wonder if he was in there but not answering. I also yelled "Hello" out by the shop to see if someone was out there, but no answer. I used to find him out there alot. It didn't look like anything had been crushed and stuff looked pretty much the same around there. Cars plugged up the drives and alot of stuff in the carport. I didn't try to go any farther, I didn't want to piss him off if he was around. I'll try back again in a few days when it isn't so hot. I don't know what to think. By the way, what does GMB stand for in the ***le of this thread?

Is that the place North of Lapeer on 24? The one with the cars and trucks out front? I've been by there a few times and he's never open when I go. I'd sure like to see what is behind those walls..

Good news! I just went to Hilliards junkyard near Vestaburg again and he was open. A couple of other guys were there that had been there a couple of days ago and it was ope They were back to pick them up parts Hilliard had his kid take off and said he had been real nice to them?!? He let me walk around and search for some rims and said it was ok to look around. I found the rims I wanted and he only wanted $10 for them. I also found a wire wheel 16x4 I think maybe off a 32-36 ford and he only wanted $10 for it. It was rusty but worth a chance to sandblast. I talked to the young guy, Hilliards kid?, and he said they close at 12 on Saturdays. They don't open until about10 am and close by 4 on weekdays, and on Mondays they don't get going until about noon. So, Erv Hilliard is still alive, but his vision is really poor, and the junkyard is still open, sometimes.

I've been making the drive down I-94 pretty regularly these days all the way down to Saline and when I have a chance to get off the expressway I've seen some neat stuff. I'll have to take pics next time and I'll get locations as well. I know of a 1964 Falcon for sale down in that area too. It's a 4 door and I don't know what motor it has in it yat but if you want to know more just pm me. I know the body is in good shape.
