Not internet ******** but an engine you saw being weighed...Many say well over 600 pounds crowding 700 pounds...I bought a complete as pulled 302 20 years ago. Picked it up at the freight terminal.Itwas steel band strapped to a standard pallet with a few short pieces of 4x4 for leveling. Sitting on the their inspection stamped scale it was 660 pounds. So the engine was less than 600 pounds with starter, intake and exhaust ,flywheel but minus bell housing ?
@Truckedup I would be very surprised (skeptical) that it weighed less than 600 lbs equipped as described. Early small block Chevy V8s were about 530 lbs and the 235 six cylinder engines reportedly outweighed the V8 by more than 50 lbs. The GMC engines were heavier than 235 Chevys by a significant amount, varying some with which particular GMC model is being discussed. While all the main components of a GMC were a bit heavier, the crankshaft of 302s were especially heavy compared to 228 thru 270 series. Ray
yeah, I found GMC factory info stating a fully dressed 302 from fan to clutch housing is 740 pounds with all the heavy duty truck parts. When car parts like a lighter clutch housing a, flywheel and so it might be 640 pounds..... I got a deal on shipping with the light scale weight, lol
