Features Gmc blowers

  1. the gathering gloom,
Watch lights fade from every room.
Bedsitter people look back and lament,
    Another day's useless energy spent.
    Impassioned lovers wrestle as one,
Lonely man cries for love and has none.
New mother picks up and suckles her son,
Senior citizens wish they were young.
Cold hearted orb that rules the night,
Removes the colours from our sight.
Red is grey and yellow white.
But we decide which is right.
    And which is an illusion?

Didn't rain on my parade, did my research already. Going on a 289 or 302. They actually build boost faster than a large bore 6-71 according to Dyers who used to covert them.

  8. I still would pass. They are too modern and look funny, even if you can fab the stuff, why bother when 6-71s are cheap? I got one for FREE from a guy here on the H.A.M.B. whom I've never even met.

Wish I could find a FREE 6-71 worth rebuilding! Or even a reasonably priced one for that matter........

some strange sync'ing with the sound here but
this is what four Strombergs looks and sort of sounds like

since this recording I have changed a few things
like swapping the POS fuel regulator out for one that actually works,
mounted the fuel log a bit more solidly
and completely redid the dash, steering wheel and column

  12. I've heard, with the EPA cracking down, more and more diesels will be coming off the road. Call around boatyards and diesel engine shops, I bet you can find one.

No meaning to be rude, but what do you consider reasonable? As I have seen plenty of late that I would consider reasonable - to me is under $400 - to be rebuilt.

And to add to that, I have to pay to get that to CA from where ever, then over to Australia, so add another $150-250 onto that initial price.

theres one on the auction site for $395 buy it now, looks to be in good original condition too.

Reasonable would be what cores go for over here, which is around $250 needing rebuild.

I think you're a little late? AZ outlawed them years ago for OTR trucks

FYI, I saw that blower ad earlier and have issues with the "set up by Hampton" claim, since the case looks just like it came off a diesel with the hanging tabs still on one side....they have to be removed to fit a V8 manifold. Pro blower guys, like Hampton, would remove the tabs as well as mill out the bars across the intake ports when converting one from diesel use to automotive performance blower. There are a lot of claims out there from people selling blowers....some are actually true. Just saying.

Agreed, I've converted an 8v71 and made an adapter plate for it to mount to a standard bower intake. Wasn't all that hard and it's different.

6v71 and 8v71 rotors were (can still be) used in aftermarket 6-71 and 8-71 housings. From all my research, if you have a 6v71 thats 3 inches short, it's most likely a 4v71.
    heres some additional information:
    http://www.fordflathead.com/blowersize.html

Everyone and their sister that has a blower motor has an "inline" style blower. Be different....
My setup, you can see the adapter plate on the bottom

  30. Good i'm not the only one that saw that....plus look at both ends....no rear bearing plate, and the old style stock drive....not set up to run on the street.
