Hot Rods GM's manual 3 spd with 5 Mountong holes???

Being I'm a pretty diehard Chevy guy but not knowing the finer points of truck components, seeing that five hole trans case made my eyes bulge a little and say WTF.

 

I was lucky, I worked in a junkyard when they were still pretty new, and saw a few of them.

 

Just because I was curious, here's what the matching bellhousing looks like:

 

These will give the guys that pull transmissions in with the bolts another bolt or threaded hole to strip or ear to break off.

 

If I remember right, my '73 c-10 had one behind the 250"six.
