A Gallery of photos of Americas Most Beautiful Roadster has been posted to: http://www.suede37.com/images/2009/gnrs60/ambr08/index.htm Youll notice that the lead photo was shot by Mary. It was our 40th Wedding Anniversary on Sunday and she was right there beside me shooting away. Now hows that for a wonderful wife. Regards, John p.s. More to come. I caught a cold in all the rain at Pomona and am a bit slower this week with my photo editing and web development work.
The car really doesn't look that bad to me. I like it much better that last years winner. Nice pic's... Any info on if he built it or what shop built?
Just a observation,... the last two winners of the AMBR award were both in the previous years Detroit Autorama and both were in the Great 8,.... (contenders for the Ridler award) Great 8 2008 / AMBR 2009 And Great 8 2007 / AMBR 2008 ( sorry, but I just really don't like anything about this car)
That's not unexpected. If you want to win the Riddler you cannot show the car anywhere else before that show. You you try out that one, improve the car for a year and go for the AMBR.
I was told that John Buck announced from the awards stage on Sunday that next year the AMBR will be open only to first time shown cars. That will eliminate the "former runner up" situation. It is probably a good idea.
What criteria is used by the judges to declare a winner?? While I agree this years winner is more of a "car" than last years, it just has too much contrived **** going on with it for my tastes.
not just the last two years - Chip's Impression was a Riddler winner also, sure there were others. There is a very specific and concise judging sheet that ***ulates points based on quality and number of modifications and work performed. Opinion and taste are not taken into account, purely points. It's been that way for decades.
The Ridler has always had that rule,.... from the word I got at our last meeting, as the registrations are coming in it looks like we have another big bunch of Ridler contenders again this year. And yes there have been many more,... but I just had pictures of these two handy
It's been this way since at least 2005. Here the list: 2005 A.M.B.R. - Paul & Erik Hansen's "Seduced" 1932 Ford 2004 Great 8 Award Winner 2006 A.M.B.R. Ken Reister's "Impression" 1936 Ford 2005 Riddler Winner 2007 A.M.B.R. Kevin & Karen Alstott's 1935 Ford Roadster 2006 Riddler Winner 2008 A.M.B.R. Rudy Necoechea's 1932 Ford Roadster 2007 Great 8 Award Winner 2009 A.M.B.R. Harry Willet's 1932 Ford Roadster 2008 Great 8 Award Winner The difference is anything can go for and win for the Riddler award, as long as it "emphasizes creativity, engineering and workmanship" and meets these two rules: 1. The vehicle must make its first public showing at the Detroit Autorama 2. The vehicle must prove minimal operability While A.M.B.R. is limited to any "U.S. built roadster, roadster pick-ups, touring vehicle 1937 and older, including designer roadster that resemble a 1937 or older roadster."
