I had an awesome time! Enjoyed the drive ( maiden voyage for the 40) saw a ton of great cars, held the door open for people with strollers, enjoyed the food talked with a whole bunch of greybeards and kept my love for old cars alive. Felt like I got a bargain at registration.

Can't wait for next year- awesome show!!

There are so many nice cars there because it does draw a large crowd.
As far as food and beer, complain the the Fairplex, the show has nothing to do with prices and quality. I usually like Pinks for the ****y polish sausage, make sure ya get some hot peppers to cool you mouth down.

Yeah, I know. As I said, I thought the show was great, awesome really. The food I got was about typical for show food, maybe slightly inflated prices above the usual rip off. It is just one of those perpetually irritating things at pretty much any typical car show. Good tip on the Sheraton though, maybe will do next year or just bring my own lunch.

My only regret was not being able to spend more time at the show. But, I'll be going back again on Friday instead of Sat. or Sun. for sure.

"Crowded! Crowded! Crowded! I'm bummed. Very hard for me to get time off, but I managed it and a group of us drove an hour and a half to get there and we hardly were able to see anything! So crowded you were walking shoulder to shoulder and front to back with people. If they stopped to look at something, you had to stop as well because there was no place to go. There were areas between the vendors and cars that only one person at a time could p*** thru. Everyone standing there like cattle going to slaughter. When I finally got into position to admire a car, you were asked to move so they could take a picture. Not to mention all the strollers and electric carts etc and it was just nuts! This advent was advertised like crazy on TV so I guess this advent is now just a big money making commercial venture with profit as the sole purpose. Tried getting something to eat and a beer and it took 45 minutes and the bbq sandwich was cold! There was a lot of great things to so see and admire. The best of the best, but really didn't get to see much as we had enough and left after a couple of hours and can't envision going back again. "

I am surprised at this quote. Is this his first car show??? The greatest car show on earth and he is *****ing about crowds. I drove 2 hours to get there at 6AM waited 2 hours in line to go in spent the whole day there and drove 2 hours home in my Roadster. Maybe some time in the future someone will hold your hand at the next show you go to so you won't feel so bad!!!

  5. Wow, are your serious right now? You live in California and you are at the GNRS? I would kill to live in California and attend shows like this. Instead I am in the middle of a snow blizzard right now. I wish I had the money and time to make it out to the GNRS. You should be thankful man!

Whatever happened to just being happy and thankful to be at one of the BEST shows on the planet? Hundreds of more cars outside in the sun, parked in-between the building after building of show cars, out under the blue skies...OH, did I mention that it was 77 degrees? Huge buildings full of hot rods and hundreds more parked outside!
As far as the food goes....bring your own snacks and breakfast bars, etc.
Did you go to look at hundreds and hundreds of cars or to savor the cuisine? Anyone who eats "event food" SHOULD know well in advance it's way over-priced and probably manufactured by Purina. Wake-Up! Why wait in line when there's stuff to see?
Bring snacks and eat something before you go.
There's some terrific restaurants just a mile away. After the show, treat yourself to something you can actually digest and so you can avoid having to have your stomach pumped.
    ======================================================
Do you have ANY idea how many thousands and thousands of guys around the world would have loved to have had your "problems"?
    I guess not.

People complain for the sake of complaining. Next people will be complaining that the HAMB is too crowded. Get a god damn life and be thankful we have people to keep this hobby alive . Little *****es every where you go!

  9. My thoughts exactly.
I go every year on Saturday, and although it can get crowded, I still have a great time. I got bumped in to, and also bumped a few folks accidentally myself, and each time, it was always a very courteous "Sorry, man" from everyone. The place is full of car people, and we're all there to look at the cars and hang out with friends. Crowded, yes. But it's all cool people who just want to have a good time, unlike a major sporting event that's usually full of at***ude and disrespect, and you're constantly watching your back waiting for the **** to hit the fan.

    are you serious??

take a step back and think about how fortunate you are to have all of this pretty much on your doorstep.
last year i saved really hard, came all the way from the UK at a cost of over $3000 and loved every minute of it.
    You're spoilt.

Amazing. Thanks for posting your opinion. That's what makes the world go around. Good to know that there will be one less unhappy person there next year.
And to all that posted coverage of the show, thanks. My back was out and I could not attend. I was considering borrowing a wheelchair because I enjoy that show so much, but now I realize that I would have just been in someones way.

  12. To the SCOOTER haters...All you guys *****ing about it should back up and think about that. I'm only 55 with severe diabetic neuropathy in lowere xtremities, I have to use one too and I HATE IT!!! I've alwys been very healthy and never thought I would be depending on a scooter for mobility but here I am. This could be you one day as well.

I'm hot rod born-in lifer and as a profession pinstriper did shows for 30 years before having to wuit due to nerve damgae in the feet. I started going to car shows in 1958 in Houston with my Dad always loved walking around looking and since 1980 as a striper and now I cannot walk 10 feet without scooter or cane.

That really hurts to know that you gotta a carry a "crutch" whereever u go. Try loading and unloading a heavy scooter everytime you want to go someplace, not easy.

I am not obese nor do I use it because I'm lazy. I have it because of an inherited disease that has practically ruined my life but that will not keep me from loving hot rods and going to shows and rolling on my scooter when I'm able.

I know it is inconvenient for you guys with useable feet to go around us or maybe you're envious because we don't have to walk all day, but I will tell you this, I will trade positions with anyone of you who complain about the scooters being a nuisance.

So next time you see one of us on a scooter at car show, grocery store, wherever, give some slack because you have no idea. And many of those guys/gals on scooters are the ones who were there in the beginning and paved the way.

Whether we are scooter bound or not, this is a hobby with like minded individuals, not some religion who looks down on others. Thanks for listening.

Last year I got there at 6AM for the drive in show. had to wait until 10 to get in.

This year they let us in at 8:30. Way better.

I go through the buildings early before it gets too crowded.

The funny thing is, the suede palace was the busiest building!

If they wouldn't let those stupid cars inside the buildings there would be more space for walking and more food vendors which would bring down the prices on the grub.
Plus there would be more room for professional r***lers!

Go easy on em Paul. I missed the show this year but I expect the worlds greatest show to be crowded.

If you can't express your opinion without calling someone else a name, you are... well... the worst kind of idiot... And you ruined this thread.

Dude doesn't like the GNRS. Big deal. Doesn't mean he's a bad dude.

I, for one, am much more into small car shows than big. Come shoot me in the face.
