Sorry for your loss, understand your feelings, if people were as loving, loyal and good like our dogs, our world would be a far better place, my 2 boys are laying by my feet, just keeping me company while I type this message to you.

Dismayed to hear of your loss...I lost my brindle boxer, Penny, in '98. She was 6, brain tumor.
That was enough. I was shattered.
Youngest daughter Amy declared that I was a grump, her boyfriend's golden Lab had a litter, and one was a Chocolate female...I was 'presented' with her when she was 5 weeks.
Hand fed her, talked to her...she always answers with a 'woof'. Annie's 7 now, and I am 'gifted'.
People point and shout, "Cool!" when they see her riding 'shotgun' in my F100.
She sits in the passenger seat, is attentive and obedient.
I told her straight off that 'Little girls don't put their heads out of windows when riding.'
"Do you understand, Annie?" She said, "Woof."

  4. Looks like my turn to post.

Desmo - the dog in my avatar and the inspiration for my username, had to be put down today. He was almost 17 years old, which is a pretty good run for a guy his size. We got him at 2 years old from a rescue org and over the past 15 years he made quite an impression.

We also had to put his "sister" Sophia down in December. She was 10 years old and the apple of my eye as it were. Two tough losses.

Desmo in his later days. Looking pretty good for almost 17 years old.

Sophia. She was very ill when this was taken but still such a sweeite.

The 'triever twins. Both gone now, the house seems a lot larger now...

  5. You know it's funny, as I read all these posts and look at the pictures I can't help but think of my old pal 'jack' (if I can I'll find a picture and post it) . Jeez, this is tough. He was a very loyal, loving dog who for 13 wonderful years went almost everywhere with me and never complained. It's been 61/2 years since he went home to the lord and I still haven't gotten over it.... yet.

Sorry for your loss. We lost our jack Russell a few years back and my wife said she would never get another, but I wore her down and adopted this great little Terrorist and she's my co-pilot now. IMG_1351.JPG IMG_0523.JPG

    DesmoDog,
Sorry for your losses. A loss is always tough and close together is particularly hard on the heart.
I'm sure both dogs will be at the Rainbow Bridge looking for you with their tails wagging.;)
Thanks to all for sharing your dogs and dog stories with the rest of us.

Sorry for your loss. My last dog was run over years ago and it took me until recently to get another. I raised him around my heap (as my avatar shows) and now it's hard to keep him out of it. He honestly seems to realize it's not just another car. 0720171541a.jpg
