Hey brother, I too can feel your pain. Henry, in the first post, died a year and a half ago. Our other dog Pepper really missed him so we got our new pup Jager. Jager is such a gas - people love him because he's so different looking but he's also a big lover. More people know his name than mine too. He's layin on my feet as I write this. Stripe will never be forgotten but new blood will warm your heart.

Mine is also in my avatar. Always hanging out of the window, rain, cold or hot. Almost 10 years now. Smaller than the previous buddy but has just as big of a heart. Sorry for your loss 39, been there also.

God that makes me miss my old lab. Loved that dog. I've got three other dogs now, but I grew up with that lab.

Thanks everyone for the kind words . I live out in the country with not much traffic so he was loose when we were home and not in the house. You could count on one hand the times i caught him across the road in 6 and a half years. I called him to go for a ride , thought he was in the woods behind my house. It was dark and he was black , he darted out of the woods in front of a 4 wheel drive truck. At least the guy stopped and came and told me. Anyway thanks for the support guys. R.I.P. Stripe

Buried somewhere in this thread (pg 10) is the little guy as a puppy. He still co pilots. And he likes to look at himself in the glove box door and door panel-

Hey 39, sorry for your loss.

This is Willie. Had to put him down in July and I am still not over it. He loved going in the garage. He would stand right next to open headers and seemed to dig it as much as I do

Got my boy when he was about a year old as well. Got him from Austin Pets Alive. They save healthy, treatable dogs that are on death row. They only had him a week when we got him. They knew little about him other than he was scared but loved people. Brought him home and learned right away he was house broken and knew commands. Makes me wonder why he was even at the shelter on death row to begin with. If he could only talk.

Best dog I have ever had!

Great pics and stories....my mom just lost her 13yr old Sparkie, died in his sleep, same age as my oldest dog. I spent a good half hour last night looking her over and just sitting with her, just in case...

This is my St. Bernard in my 53 ford. Had to put him down 2 weeks ago. He was a great dog and he had cancer in his front leg. Marley was his name. ImageUploadedByTJJ1359059030.145928.jpg

  23. Man, I love my dogs. Lots of joy and lots of loss in this thread.

We had to put down our dog Heidi yesterday. We had her for 12 years and I miss her already. She was a mixed breed who-knows-what, probably Golden retriever and Shepherd. I just know she was a big orange dog and I loved her. I'm bummed because I didn't get to say a final goodbye. I knew she was sick but I didn't realize how sick. I said my usual goodbye to her yesterday morning. My wife took her to the vet only to find out she was really bad and suffering. She called me and told me we should put her down. To wait until I could get home would only have prolonged her suffering.

    Rest now, my girl.

This is Chino, my Boxer/Pit Mix. I got him at 6 months old. He was a victim of discrimination - the landlord of the girl I got him from found out he's half Pit Bull and said NO DOG! He's a great dog! He's very athletic, a good guard dog and a big baby! and like all Boxers, He is a CLOWN!!!

6 months old, a couple days after I got him:

It's funny how he can look like a pup one minute:
