Another HAMB member ridin in the back seat. Thanks for the vacation trip. Computer was down a week so just got caught up. Keep havin fun.
Bob....and Maggie, Thanks for "taking us along on your latest adventure"....Too Cool Now, I was "wondering".....you seemed to have "some sort of fasination" with all of the pictures that you posted about "6 cylinder speed equipment".....hummmm, seems almost biased....haha Y'all stay safe, and Maggie, keep getting that leg in shape so "you can keep Bob in shape"
I have forgotten to mention our highly technical gas guage the has been in use since the old one took a shit and we didn't get the new one installed before we left. We saw this coyote in a wheat field in eastern WA this morning. A short time later we saw a bunch of deer, one nice buck among them. Have to hit the Hay now very tired. BB
Very cool! I have enjoyed all of your pictures so far. I guess it goes to show you don't have to go a long ways away from home to start exploring! Nothing better than driving your own car across country. Where do you plan on stopping in Washington?
on our west coast trip we had neither accurate spedo, odo or gas gauge and used 2 GPS and that sure caused questions, but it served our needs
Saw this neat old starlight coupe parked on a side street, forgot the name of the town. Chopper working installing equipment at a substation above Grand Coulee Dam. Speaking of Grand Coulee Dam. !!!!!! We took a 75 mile detour to see this, yeah it was worth it. I'm still trying to figure out what the green stuff is, looks like they cut through the hill to make a road, maybe erosion control? She is still hanging in there even after 2 weeks on the road with a cam boot on. Gonna keep her. I'm begining to wonder if she has a thing for Keith, she has had this on now for a few days, maybe it's the only one she brought. Even got to talk to this guy for a bit in Grand Coulee Wa, he drives this around and has got a shop with a few OT projects in it. These were parked along side of Hwy 2 in Waterville Wa. Good morning from beautiful downtown Leavenworth Wa. It's a really neat tourist trap town with a Bravarian Theme, will post some pics tonite of the town on our way to see Brigrat. Then it is the final leg of our quest, over Stevens Pass and Down to Everette Wa the west end of US Hwy 2. Are gonna hang around the Everette, Seattle, Tacoma area for a few days and then take the superslab home. I 90 to billings and then on I 94 to Wisconsin. Film at 11:00 BB
Damned that pie looks delicious. That one over there---->----^^^ Bob and Maggie I know you don't need any more laughs but here's one anyway for you Wisconsoniterz. We used to camp with the three kids all over your fine state. One summer while picking cherries at a large farm cows surrounded our new pick up truck and began licking it. Our very young daughter told people around town and at camp we went to a COW WASH ! All these years and we still remember this. Vacations are times to create memories and you kids are stocking up many for when you get old-----older. I assured my wife Maggie didn't kick you in the butt to hurt her ankle. Again thanks for letting us snuggle up in your back seat for this trip. It is sorta getting crowded back here !Maybe you should stop so we can order some pie and let the wimmin pee.
2 happy campers! Thanks for the visit #40 & Maggie! ps, damn, the pic's of the 2 happy campers are on their camera, maybe they will post! On their way to Diver's
Wonder if there's any evidence of the avalanche at Stevens Pass this past Feb. Came right down to Hwy 2. Enjoying the ride!
I thought about Grand Coulee after you left. I'm glad you made it to Leavenworth and met up with Len.
Hey Bob, Alan will be calling you... sorry I am going to miss you this trjp but wil see ya on your next one out here
You and the crew are an inspiration on how to live right! You always seem to be having the time of your life in that Green "Cheby"! Safe travels my friend!!
Finally got some time to update this epic saga. Have spent the last 3 days with our friend Chris and his lovley wife Danela on Camano island. Good friends, good times, good food. Leavenworth Wa is a town that remade itself into a Bravarian style tourist destination. Here are a few examples. We then backtracked about 5 miles to go see Brigrat and his neat shop on a hill over looking the valley and a bunch of apple orchards and vineyards. I wanted to take this home with me. 62 vette he is doing for a customer, a little OT but I love the way he made a peak out of brake line to mimic the chrome trim on the top of the fenders, cool as hell. Too much engine candy for these old eyes to handle. Me loves nailheads. His buddy owns a winery and he shoots his finished cars at this site, so we decieded to do the same. I thought this was a GRAPE IDEA. I like this dam on the river, it had a neat fish ladder and the Salmon come up the Colombia over 500 miles and past 5 dams. We just missed the DNR measuring fish and milking eggs. Would really liked to have done some fly fishing in this pool. We were told by a bunch of folks on this thread that a MUST STOP on the Stevens Pass road ( US HWY 2) was the 59er Diner. Neat old TV Eat your heart our PF & Moriarity. Blackberry Cobbler with Ice Cream. Caddy Brougham under construction at Divers Hot Rods in Startup Wa. As you can see, Maggie is not one of those girls that sit in the car while the guy does the shop tour, she is right in there and very interested in whats going on. I didn't even know something like this existed, a SWISS CHEES PONTIAC. The factory mad 4 of these for drag racing with Aluminum front ends and a Drilled frame to reduce weight. Another customer job. I think that maybe I have too much on this post, we will see. BB
Yep, they made me delete 4 pictures. Not much to say about this except that I Love it. Another customer car. I couldn't lift this to get it into the Chebby. They decorate their shop like we decorate our house. They won this With this, a little OT but what's not to love about a Ferrari power rear enging Rambler Wagon. Let's close this shop visit with a little yard art. Not the green one, that's a driver. I love the Ferrari sticker. Chris took us to his buddy Pauls shop, wow what a great collection of traditional stuff. I didn't even know that Crosley made a Convertible. Has got wheels that I never even heard of. I love the WinterFront Grille, it looks like it might be for a Mopar. Cool grille on this. Super Speedster. He has another one of these on the shelf. Love it Let's see if I have too many on this post. BB
I only had to delete 2 that time. I'm not really into tractor stuff but this is cool. Willys with the dual Glove Box Dash 31 Chebby with a custom grille. Olds Fastback, stock and beautiful The treasures never end around here. The town of Edison loop has a tavern. I have never seen a knitted telephone pole before. A little yard art along the highway. It sure is living up to it's reputation of being very rainy. But the shis are cool also. This tree made a good background for another boring shot of the old girl Victorian is always the coolest We visited an air muesum also. Look who signed this pilots license, I espically like it because he was born in Wisconsin. I suck at flight simulators. That's all for tonight folks See ya tomorrow. BB
Thanks for the pics and story Bob.I plan a trip in the next year or so your story was motovating for me.
Bob and Maggie stopped by yesterday afternoon. It was a real pleasure meeting them. So cool to see them traveling the back roads with that o so cool chev. It sounds great too!! They stayed for maybe 45 min showed them our junk, then they were on there way via the backroads to Bellvue. Again nice to meet You Both . Have a continued safe trip home. FEDER
Bob, glad to see you posting again. After you hadn't posted for a couple of days I was wondering if something had happened. Keep on enjoying and letting us in on it.
Bob, was that Paul Reichlin's shop? If it was, I was with his Dad, Frank when he bought that Crosley outside of Yakima.
Great road trip Bob. Thanks for letting us look over your shoulder along the way. Your better half is sure a trooper and I"m hoping she hasn't overdone it by keeping on the trip and the possibility of it causing her an extended healing time. Frank
Good Morning from Beautifull Downtown Fife Wa. Raining for the last 3 days but we are still keeping on. Car is filthy but it will clean up. We are at the Emerald Queen Casino and today will visit Art Morrison Ent. and the LeMay museum plus who know what. This was our home away from home on the island for the weekend, Thanks Chris and Danela. He has some neat chit also. Feder lives just a few miles from Chris off of the island and has all kinds of neat racing chit and his son has a really cool chopped merc more door. This is the grille that is going in the Merc just another 40 Ford coupe. How many of these have you seen, he has another one for the Galaxie. A rust free Cali more door merc that he is gonna sell. Got to love an ALL ORIGINAL panhead, I think he said it was a 41, got it from the original owner. There were no pictures allowed inside but saw the worlds largest building by volume and inside we saw the assembly lines for the 747-8 and the newest plane from Boeing, the 787 dreamliner. We saw the 4th one about to come off of the line. That plane is 60% lighter than the 747, I find that almost impossible to believe. We only got some pics from the outside of completed planes. I took a pic of my hippy van from this vantage point with my 2 kids on our Alaska trip in 1979. Here is the chebby waaay down there from the top of the Space Needle. Went out to Aburn and Beyers shop to meet up with Custombuick. He gave us a tour of his employers shop and the adjoining shops. Love the Chevy hood sides on this.
