Need to see if I can remember how to do this as I have not posted for quite a while. In the old days (1960,s) we used a lot of junk yard parts and did or did not modify them.We had a actelene outfit, a stick welder, and a 90 degree ofset grinder, no chop wheel, no mig-tig welder and God only knows what had not been invented yet. 2 incedents at Terre Haute Indiana, 1961, we were getting ready to stage and my opponet winged his 39 Ford coupe as he was staging and he was gone wide open. As I was staging I noticed my brake pedal felt funny and the flagman waved me on, made my pass and hit the brake pedal which hit the floor, broken weld(welding skill was not good). I was able to gear down and get back to the pit. The problem on the 39 was the acellerator pump rod was too long and went past center sticking wide open. In 60 years I have saw this twice. My 29 problem was not enough welding skill. This is those old days I miss so much.Thank you Lord for riding with me. More later

  2. Good reason for the double springs on the throttle return, we didn't give safety too much thought when we were 10 foot tall and bullet proof back in the 60's. HRP
