Seems like an awful lot of effort to get an overdrive that isn't very strong, no repair parts available, and you have to use a properly wired toggle switch every time you want to use the overdrive. While I understand the nostalgia idea, what do you do if it breaks? When you check for the casting date, you need to pull the side cover and see what kind of condition the gears/syncros/shift pivots are in. I have always thought that the choice of what transmission to use was the "most" important choice a builder makes (as if someone could actually say there is "one" most important thing). But while the engine choice gets most of the glory, what transmission someone chooses often "makes or breaks" whether driving that engine is reliable and enjoyable. If it were me I'd sell it and find a 5 speed.........then put a nostalgic shift lever and knob on it.;)

Its years down the road and I still need to find the car I want to use it in,I will have the engine for it this summer but it will need a crank. I have to build two daily drivers before I can even think about this project, both of my daily drivers have bad frames so the truck is going to get a 3/4 ton frame and some new sheetmetal and going to put quarters on my now 2wd bronco and make it my daily driver that will replace my crown vic that has a bad frame.
