A friend of mine sent me a link with some great old photos on them. All of these cars are right out of my childhood...! This stuff is GOLD to me! The first two shots are of Don Shapley's caddie powered 40 Ford. Don painted the original Boss Hydro. Don is still in business today, and is a very dear friend.
A very good friend of my Dads, John Archubalt and his Hydrophobia chevy...notice the Boss Hydro decal on the side!
Another very good friend of mine. Caroll Hines...I raced with Caroll with the Wild Bunch and Hot Rods from Hell. I recently spent a day with him up in his shop. He's 70 now and still drives his blown alterd!
Another long time friend of my Dad's and me. Eddie McKee...Eddie still has his shop and I see him at the races.
This is the most amazing find on the internet for me! Another very good friend...Ted Schaum..Ted has had some beautiful race cars over the years. My Dad did a lot of transmissions for him.
And the ABSOLUTELY neatest find is this shot of my Dad's 40 Willys!...I have very few pics of this car, this is the one I'm doing a restoration on!
I'm glad someone took the time to take pictures of "the way it was" back then. As I'm sure your dad will tell you, taking pictures was about the last thing on your mind back then. Your main focus was getting the car to the track and then while there keeping everything in order to make time trials, cl*** runoffs and then if you won cl*** it was on to eliminator. All in all a very busy day that held little time for pictures. With todays digital camera equipment it's a lot easier to snap a picture on the fly. That and the fact that most racing is brackets, there isn't the pressure of the old days. Frank
I set up a webshots photo site for all of my cars and builds. You can check em out at: http://community.webshots.com/user/BossHydro Go down to the Evil One build.......... Rocky

Wow. What a treasure trove. It's neat that you know all these guys and that many of them are still keepin' the hammer down.
