A million dollar plane is bought to avoid flying commercial and save time. With modern communication who needs to travel long distances at a moment's notice except as a luxury or for business. There is rental/private hire too. I'd imagine almost all are bought as a business purchase, not private, which gets into taxes and depreciation laws written by and for those who try to save as much as possible. Sorry to get off-track from the car, but a plane bought as a tool of transport is also an investment from a time to money perspective, just like a huge combine.
Was nice to see it in person again. I wonder though, when it got pulled out of Jims radar security building. The original signage and ropes that went around the car was there with it. I didn’t see it there, wonder what happened with it. Last I saw it was before the original auction in the office of the storage garage we moved the other cars that weren’t part of the auction.
I think the tires that were on it to drive it in the movie made the car look better. I am not a fan of the "futuristic" tires that are on it.
Saw the car at Amelia Island some years back. Sitting on a riser on the fairway. No promotion, no real signage, just sitting there…largely ignored. Couldn’t believe it. Also couldn’t believe the folks I was with had never heard of it. Needless to say it got lots of attention from yours truly! To see it now restored and getting the recognition it deserves is very satisfying. Somewhere Jim Street is smiling…
I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t wat that sitting in their living room. Mark, once you get it in there show us some pictures of how it looks.
Beau's collection - this is 5 years ago since then he seems to have been concentrating on customs. NOTE: Currently the collection is basically in storage. Some cars are on display at various dealers. This area is currently set up as an event space with tables and chairs. They will have their annual car show on Sunday Nov 9th https://www.galpin.com/car-show/
