History Golden Triangle Drag Strip, Beaumont TX

Does anyone have the exact coordinates for this old drag strip? Any pictures of it in it's current state? Has development crept over it's former location? How about an old address for the track?

 

I think there is an old thread on Texas strips.Tfeverfred may know.

 

Been through the thread. It doesn't disclose any info other than being in between Beaumont and Nederland.

 

Can't tell you except I raced there several times. On one occasion I went with a neighbor who had a 57 Poncho and towed it with his new Catalina (63 / 64). We raced both cars and faced each other in the eliminator final. Been a long time ago

 

It was on highway 347 just south of where it splits with hwy 287. The entrance was across from the entrance to the Dupont plant on 347. You can still see it on google maps, there is a lake at the end of it now. A couple of weeks ago there was a reunion in Orange Tx for the dragstrip. Wish I could have gone, heard it was a good time.

Don't know, probably could walk it. Most likely private property. There was a gate on the highway.

 

Wayne the other Wayne got me a chunk of the track from Richard Potter .Leo Simpson was there at the reunion
