OK, some people like to have recognition for all their hard work in building a car, but what's the point in gettin' her all polished up & 'show-worthy' and then obscuring the view with a big pile of shiny trophies? When I was tidying out my Comet there was a trophy plaque under the seat that said 'Top 12 Award'. My buddy & me both looked at each other and said at the same time "Must've only been 12 cars there!". It's not a pretty car!
I think it is the planters that pushed me over the edge with that Caddy. I mean those are BIG cars with LOTS of room but come on, planters?!?! Maybe he has a support car or trailer or bus..... Thanks for the taste of your corner of the world. I wish more people would post pics of little local shows.
Oh goody.. Car show season is just starting.. Ya know after my heart attack last June im finding more and more that id rather go to the sprint car races or ride the harley rather than sit at shows.. Must be sumpin about being brought back several times they told me and being here to think about it! Some shows are cool but ive got some other things i shoulda done a while ago and while im still living and its time to get r done I have some really nice hardware one is 38" tall and it was a real honor to get it but it just sits here .. Im sure not gonna take it to the shows I do go to..LOL I look at them pics and dam I dont even like to walk by that shit Dave
When you look back at all the 50's and 60's car show pictures, it was really common for people to bring all the trophy's the car won and set them up with the car. Looks pretty strange in front of an '87 Monte Carlo but still, I wouldn't give anybody shit for it.
The purple sedan interior looks very nice. It took just as much work if not more to do as most people's interior. I dont get why your disrespecting it, because there is shiny aluminum? The trophy thing I see where the fuss is about, but they are just being proud of there cars.
When we moved to Arizona when I was 7, my dad found all his cheesy car show trophies in the attic and decided he didn't want to move them.... so he had me round up all the neighborhood kids and started handing them out and saying stuff like... "and now the coolest t-shirt award goes too....little johnny!" The kids loved it! I think that was the best use of car show trophies in history.
When we(5051,IrishMike,133,HellboundGasser,Bad Bob) decided to have a HAMB get together every Tuesday night,I just wanted something like when I used to hang out at Whittier Blvd. No awards,no music,no trailer queens,no drama. Just a bunch of guys who met on the HAMB,hanging out, talking about their progects, cars, events, making fun of each other, you know...fun! No egos either! Just like the Anti-doughnut meet in Hunington Beach. It's the best.
He works with that truck, he was telling my buddy that he had a chemicl load to take up to Mass. the next day. That kicks ass.
I went to an all Mopar show in OKC one year with an org. 39 Ply. A friggin boat beat me out on Spec. Intrest. WTF too. It wasn't even Mopar powered.
Actually, the monte was not the car i was referring to...its the 68 Eldorado that bob carducci currently owns...
my brother in law did something simillar to that last summer. where he races they have a kid from the crowd hand the main race winner the big peice of chromed plastic and the kid gets a little one. well after the pic is taken he asks the kid if he wants to trade ant they do
Any Pics of the Yellow Hudson Hornet ( I think)? You can kind of make it out thru the winsheild of the Chainer Sedan with Suicide doors.
