I decided to put the old '32 Ford moredoor up for sale last month,,it sold pretty quick and the transporter picked it up today and headed to Japan. I tried to get them to use one of the great Hamb haulers and us a enclosed trailer to take it to California, but I guess they must have found someone to do it cheap with a transporter that hauls open with 8 cars at a time. Guy couldn't speak English and I don't speak Russian. The car is going to Japan. Anyway,I've had this car for over 12 years and when it was rolled up on the truck my granddaughter started tearing up,,she said she can't remember a time when we didn't have the sedan. I am not going to get in a hurry and dive headlong into the 5 window coupe until fall,,plus I am enjoying the "Ranch Wagon" and my old '32 pickup. HRP
One nice thing....you won't have to look at it every cruise night. I've been very lucky I only have one of my previous cars in the area. It never gets driven.
I definitely know the feeling. Luckily my last car sold went to L.A. Good luck with your future projects.
The new owner is going to have a great looking car. I sometimes get a little sad when selling one, but most times I figure my time with it is done and someone else can enjoy it for a while as theirs.
Beautiful ride. I know the feeling. I had to sell my 55 Pontiac custom. Went to china, the middle men were Russian as well.. Anyone know why this is a common theme in auto sales overseas?
I know your pain. My 1952 Panel sold at Run to the Sun this year. I still can't believe the dude talked me out of it!
That is a great looking car. Always sad when you can see it in the kids/grandkids faces. My daughter is still kind of sad about the last truck I sold. Only solution is to get your granddaughter involved in the next build then she will have great memories of that.
It always hurts to see them go... The bright side is that it's going to the other side of the planet and you won't have to see it cruising around town... That hurts...
I agree, it is much tougher when the new owner lives in your area and you have to see it again. Best if it just goes away, far away. Don
Whew! I thought I was going to open this and see your pickup going down the road! Love that truck! I'm sure the Fordor is going to a good and loving home.
They love these cars every bit as much (and in many cases, more) than we do. I'm sure it'll be fine. To bad about the fordor, but with that pickup and your soon-to-be coupe, I'm sure you'll get over it
My last car picked up in a semi and taken from Maine to Los Angeles. Had it eight years...don't miss it. It's the building I like more than the driving, weird but true! Now, my 33 Nash three window....different story, sold it cause I needed the money and have regretted it ever since...eleven years ago! You are right, better to never see em again.
Maybe it is as a Russian guy hauled my Amazon off to Ireland and he told me his company collects all over Europe and Overseas. Said the European trips may be up 2 months!!!!! HOTRODPRIMER cheer up, you've got more toys to have fun with
The Best looking Moredoor I have seen and have wanted one since I have seen it. Great car and didnt you use it when you got married ?I remember seeing pics and always brought a smile seeing that shot. So what going to replace that treasure?
I'm actually happy for you Danny...you must have thought long and hard about this, and now you get to move on to bigger and better...chin up...
Thank you,I hauled my daughter and her husband in the sedan on their wedding day and Brenda and I drove it around on our 35 anniversary at the Knoxville,Tenn. a few years ago with the Just Married sign on the back. Larry,I did actually have a few sleepless nights because I really loved that car,,even if it was a 4 door,,but like you said there is gonna be something to replace the sedan. HRP
Sad to see it go I have been around the MorDor even since you had it. Been on trips with you and Brenda in the MorDor while my wife and I were in one of our 32's. Rode in it across state lines also. But ... things change and time marches on. I know what you have in mind as a replacement ... hope you can make it happen.
Unless the new owner is a mate and he says you can come drive it whenever you want. One of my best mates just did that with a '59 Lincoln.......and he's moving to the same town as the new owner next month.
OK.... I'll be the asshole that asks the question we all REALLY want to know.... How much did it take to send it across the Pacific??? A beautiful 32 going to Japan? Expensive here! Are they putting up 6 figures and change? Inquiring minds want to know!
You sound like my X wife. Always wanting to know how much I spent on my car or hunting or my other hobbies. Never would share same with me on her stuff! My current ride belonged to another guy local. I really got tired of every time I took it to a cruise someone would ask " Hey isn't that Johns old car"!? They won' recognize it now with new paint and other additions. Sorry to see your car go out of country but sounds like you have some cool plans for another great ride. It was indeed a beauty! Mike
