SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY! Actually Friday, Saturday, Sunday... I saw @corncobcoupe 's post about the GG show and roll call and I thought I would see if there are locals going to Puyallup in a few weeks. I mailed in an entry and got accepted to display the wife's 41 Ford Pickup indoors so I will be obviously be there all bloody weekend! If there is interest we can have a HAMB member meet and greet somewhere up there. And as per frickin usual I will take some crappy pics and post em up here for those not attending. Tis the season, Cars are the reason, The views will be pleasin, (cringe) To not attend would be treason! (okay, maybe not treason, but it rhymed).
Well, if I ever manage to get the password reset to work and register, I’ll be there. Probably Saturday and Sunday. I usually pick up the “stuff” on site on Thursday.
I haven't been for years because it isn't the same if you don't have your ride there. I can remember the old days when guys would try to figure out how early they had to get up and down there to beat Butch Leanord (sp??) to a place in line on Saturday morning but if you got up at sunrise you were way too late.
I have to have my truck loaded in the building Thursday evening so I get to miss the line. I was at the Beaches opener and a couple of GG members told me that the truck needed to be up there and helped arrange it. I haven't been in years and was just a spectator then. I'm looking forward to it. I got a room down the street at the Emerald Queen Casino so I got that going for me, which is nice.
I love AC, hope there are some spots to sit and relax in there. Never been in the hall. That sounds like fun. I look forward to seeing it. We should post a map and dot out where our cars are located so we don't miss them.
I will be there with the big ass heavy, Nikon D-600 hanging around my neck, capturing the cars and trucks, hope to see all of the fellow HAMBER'S that show up. I will probably be there all day on Saturday, looking forward to the meet and greet. Thanks for the heads up @Bandit Billy Thanks from Dennis. If you see a guy with a big white handlebar stash, wearing this beat up old straw had with these decorations on it, that is me.
I love my Nikon Digital SLR, but you are right, with the 18-300 stabilizer zoom lens it does get heavy after a while. Sure takes better pics than an iphone though.
You will need to bring your own chairs. It is set up as car a show, so you may be able to sit next to or near your black beauty.
I was talking with a friend about this last night and we both agreed to skip it. After last years traffic nightmare to and from and the cost to get in it just isn’t worth it for us. Enjoy yourselves
I went back in 2015, it was a lot of fun. The exhibition grounds are really cool, the Friday night drags are a must see, and the buildings are a nice break from the weather. I plan to go back "someday". Have fun!!!
It's nearly time. I head up Thursday as the inside cars have to be there a day early and imprisoned until Sunday. I'll trailer it up so I have transportation all weekend. Can't look at cars for four straight days and we haven't been North for a while, so my wife and I are planning a trip to Pike Place market and the wharf for some good eats. Maybe the glass museum in Tacoma and the LeMay. I gotta remember to syphon out all but 1/4 tank of gas before leaving. I saw some poor schmuck at the Portland Roadster show that forgot about the gas requirement and he had to take his car out of the building until he got it sorted.
That was easy. I made this up years ago from some electric pump I took off a camaro or something. Does the job in no time without any nasty aftertaste
I finally got the site to work and got registered. I’ll pick up my stuff Friday am and be around Saturday for sure, and probably Sunday when it’s a bit quieter. Usually I get there Thursday for the paperwork pick up and make it Friday afternoon, but this year life got in the way.
If you go to the LeMay, you’ll want to do the family collection since the one in downtown Tacoma is full of O/T vehicles until next year.
My grandpa and I are driving up early Friday morning in my C10 for the weekend. Check in at the show, hang out for a bit then go to the hotel, drop stuff off and then off to SIR for the drags. Will be in the trick truck area on Saturday.
I’ll second the family collection. The story behind the location (web site historic tour) tells only a small piece of the story. The collection there is much more along HAMB lines https://lemaymarymount.org/tours/historic-tour-2/
Oh come on! Why is it when your are in crunch time that this crap has to happen? I was just changing bulbs and dropped the lens. fortunately @Pist-n-Broke did something similar so he had a single blue dot lens. What were the odds?
It has a way of doing that! At least you get to go. I'll be looking for you buddy! What a day! After picking up the taillight lens from the Wizz I ran out to grab my trailer. I was in the middle of hooking up and running the electric jack when I pissed off 50-60 hornets that had taken up residency inside the pleather bag that covers the jack motor. I have had an allergic reaction to stings and bites, so I carefully hooked up the chains and lights once they returned inside the cover. I still had to run the lift motor up to drive, rather tense. I hope the rest of the weekend goes better.
Well shit…it makes me feel a tad bit better it’s not just me this stuff happens to. Glad you avoided any stings. One of these years I should come down for this show.
I'll be loading up Thursday. Had some trouble with the coupe last weekend. After some messing around we discovered the coil was bad. Replaced it. Works fine now. I hope hooking up my trailer goes smoother than the Bandit's experience. The weather is supposed to perfect this weekend. For some reason GG's picked the right weekend to hold a show in Puyallup as I don't recall getting rained on very often at this event. Temperatures in the low 80's sounds good to me after all of theses 100 + days we have had in July in my neighborhood. I have some glass lenses if you need some spares Bandit. Just let me know.
I won't boar you with the video but as I was loading my trailer tonight, I heard a crack that, as a golfer, I know all too well. I told my wife to get away from the tree next to the driveway and seconds later a huge branch split off and landed on my neighbor's drive. I had just enough time to video it and then find a chain saw and clean up the mess. It appears that the lightning storm we had Sunday found that tree and did the damage. Add a little wind this evening and down it came. What a day. I need a break. They have blue dots in them? I don't have a ceramic bit to drill them out. I thought there may be a pair for sale at the show.
