Wife and I drove down Thursday night... St. George, Utah to Sleep Inn on North Scottsdale Road (390 miles) in 6 1/2 hours... in a roadster. Hammer down, she froze her ass off but never complained! Didn't even complain about the horrendous fuel smell the whole way.

Friday morning found a BIG fuel puddle under the car in the parking lot. Pulled the front wheels up on a speed bump to check it out, NO BRAKES! Wife helped me fix the brakes (she pumped and I bled) and got to the show around lunch.

Started tearing into the gas leak problem, sheet metal tank (in the trunk) was leaking from a weld.... ARGH!

So, if you saw a red '32 highboy roadster with the interior out, that was ME. I ended up cutting out the majority of the carpet and padding to get the fuel out of the car... the carpets were DRENCHED.

Permatex'ed the weld that night, next morning found it didn't completely solve the issue. JB Welded over the Permatex and it sealed up tight enough to get 'er home. Thanks to MANY friends who came over to help! Regardless of all this, my wife and I had a GREAT weekend! Its what you make of it, right?

Hey everyone.......Great weekend. Spent a lot of time walking and checking things out and by last night my feet were killing me. Met a lot of people, connected some faces to some names here and wish I would have met more of you.
My buddy Rex was busy striping cars all day Saturday, the wifes got a lot of attention from guys wanting their pictures with their cars, drank a few beers, and saw a few thousand cars........Not a bad way to spend the weekend. I'll get some of my pics up tonight hopefully.

You got it Kurtis. I talked to Jerry on Saturday over by where the Sinners were set up and then Scrap Iron came up and introduced himself to us late yesterday. Still getting our club up and running but it was a cool weekend for our first outing together. Keep us in mind if anything cool is happening or if you guys need help with anything.........

  7. I had an enjoyable weekend all 3 days. Got a swap space to sell some parts, get out some cards and promote my events.

Met several Hambers, had a good time at El Polackos party on Sat eve at Industrial Chassis. Thanks Steve for your hospitality! I also enjoyed seeing the casting demonstation.
Sunday was the day I got to walk around a bit.
I'll be there in March for sure. Hope to have the blown AWB car too by then.

    Steve

I was really sick on Saturday. I didn't even make it out of the hotel room!

    Sunday was nice though.

  10. I hope you are just joking about that comment and forgot the smileys. If you are being serious, keep your class-ism to yourself. These "snobs" keep the proles like me in business. I for one was impressed by some of the high end cars like the Ring Brothers Fairlane, WOW! Much rather stare at that car than any of the mid-life crisis "rat rods" roaming the grounds.

needlouvers? forgot his camera on Saturday, so I loaned him mine and this is what he shot.

" But to each their own. If that is what you want to do with you're car, have fun with it."

Good point...however, it's rather juvenile to judge a car by dollar signs. Ever stop to think that some of us have ideas and the money to make them happen? I had to lay under the Zipper Friday and swap out the fuel pump. Too bad Tom wasn't in the neighborhood and I could have paid him to do it.

  13. I'm not going to pretend to infer what Tom said.

Goodguys isn't a traditional hot rod show. Why even mention the high end stuff if that does not flip your switch. It it's not as if you didn't know that stuff was going to be there. ;)

Damn Skippy! There are cars out there that most would pass off as high dollar rides that in reality are all hand crafted at home.

And you didn't even flag me down? :D

We did regret missing the party. We ended up eating dinner at an Irish pub near our hotel. Kirk wasn't running on all 8 cylinders.

  15. nah...looked like you guys were on a mission, hey Kirk hope your feelin better

  16. Saw you guys on Sunday, you looked tired. I could even tell from a distance your pulled pork level was dangerously low. I hope you have taken care of it. :)

I know it is not a traditional show. I was just trying to put across what I thought Tom was saying and my feeling about the bondo cracked cars that someone mentioned. Don't want this to overtake this thread, I was just tossing out my .02 cents. I myself thought there were some great cars there as usual. If the car was not my style, I just kept walking to the ones that were because there were plenty.
