This is being put out there as an opportunity to shout out to a Hamb member who has helped you out. Seems almost like a given but sometimes it helps to have an opportunity to say "Thanks, I really appreciate what you did for me." It can be scoring some elusive part, putting in the hours on a project or anything else that helped someone out. I would like to thank Stogy for helping me with a shipment that I couldn't have done on my own. We have never met but when I reached out and explained my dilemna, he was all in. When the shipment seemed to be MIA he was engaged like it was his own. Ultimately the story had a happy ending. Thanks Stogy! If you have someone on the HAMB who has saved your bacon, take the opportunity to shine a little light on them.
Well, @Stogy has been working overtime on knocking out the rivets on a 1920 Chev ch***is for me. Has left me with almost nothing left to do. lol!
Saltflats has helped me through an AOD rebuild, troubleshooting and eventual startup of a 351W and running down a leaky transmission. Whether it is lending me a special tool or figuring out what I might have missed, he's come through time and again. Moriarty, Sharpone, Lumpy 63 and a long list of other HAMB brothers have sustained me through more than a decade, when all of my mechanically inclined friends have p***ed on. To say I'm grateful hardly covers how I feel. Last week my CT scan showed that I'm cancer free for going on six years. A week from today I turn 77. In June I will have been working on this '29 AA hotrod project for 52 years. I'll have it on the road this summer because a lot of great HAMB members have my back.
The HAMB is an amazing community for sure. So many ppl here have helped me out but one guy really stands out. Even though he’s no longer here with us, FAB32 stands out for me. 2006. Detroit Autorama. Never EVER thought I’d have a car there. Young, broke, new young family. He urged me to take The Peter Beater. I couldn’t afford it. He payed for me and my wife and 2 yr old daughter to go. I really miss that guy. He was one of thee best ppl I’ve ever had in my life.
I want to thank almost all of the HAMB family for their knowledge and help. When I had a accident with my coupe years ago many members reached out to me offering help and parts. This proves that the members here are truly good people, sticking together . Thank you all. The HAMB is a very special place and I am grateful to be a part of it.
My good people is Alchemy, I needed a radio delete plate for my 40 and he just mails me a nice one for free. I can't say how good that made me feel. It would be wonderful to meet him someday.
@DeltaBravo(DB) has been instrumental in help for me with my Buick projects. Really good people. @rockable has also been one of my good people.
I think Matt Field @Hitchhiker has been one of the most helpful persons I have encountered here on the H.A.M.B. And to a lot of hot rod people out there.
I want to thank @Ryan , @corncobcoupe and especially @Moriarity for hosting and keeping the guardrails on, putting up with my posts and presence. I have been calmly and gently guided back onto the defined path a few times. @squirrel has been an amazing font of knowledge for myself and many others. I stumbled through some pretty basic stuff early in the latest project and he provided the correct answers and guidance. Oh, and he sent a part that got it on the road. One of the few I have met in person. An example of how we should all try to be. Thank you, Jim. You really helped me get this far. I also had another member send me a part I ended up not needing and shipping back. Very generous and helpful, but it simply confirmed I didn't know what I didn't know. I forget who it was now, I've gone thru my old PMs and can't find a mention. Another champ who shall due to my own thoughtlessness go nameless. It was very appreciated. I know I can count on @VANDENPLAS to ID some really esoteric stuff and expand my own ability to nail down early Mopars and others. Many others would fit this too. I also need to mention @J.Ukrop. I haven't crossed paths with him in MOD terms, but his build thread and car exemplify the ethos of a HAMB build to me. I try to give my 2 cents, but he would still be chugging away in that little garage without all the voices on the net. There are a ton of impressive builds here. Stuff that goes beyond safe, clean and fast into another level. I don't aspire to even attempt those levels, I am more of a 2 outta 3 and drive it guy. But it is educational, entertaining and enlightening. I won't name anyone, I'm sure to miss many and I don't want this to be edited daily for the next month and run 2 pages. If you are proud of your work and have received thumbs up from others, consider yourself in this group. Then there are those that truly make silk purses out of sow's ears. I can't look at a 34 coupe in Black without wondering if it's 3-5 cars crafted into one. @flamedabone you are an inspiration in ability and drive. There are a few that seem to have pictures for every day of the week and twice on Sunday. They provide visuals that nail down details of a vast amount of history and style. Those do***ents are invaluable for research. People, if you are going to build a Henway, just start grabbing all the pics you can to help define your vision, down to the clocking of cotter pins. Gotta mention a couple a couple co-conspirators in T-Buckets, @Tim_with_a_T and @Dave G in Gansevoort. We carry on PMs here walking thru What-Ifs on anything from mulch to jetting. Going to mention @BigJoeArt here too for inspiration. Going to mention @41 GMC K-18 for personal reasons. Carry on, brother.
@Bangingoldtin , Bill has been very helpful to me with my nailhead projects. @Fat47 , Walt and @BJR , Brian were very helpful to me with my 49 Buick project. I'm sure there are others that i can't recall off the top of my head.
