Need some suggestions on good shows to attend in the upper Midwest. Torquefest and Mississippi Mayhem are on the list, but on opposite ends of the summer, looking for something to do in between April and September. Not going to Back to the 50's, so that opens up June.

  2. Most years I drive all the way from Texas to Goodguys Des Moines. And, I rarely attend the GG events in my own town. But the Des Moines meet is pretty good in my experience.

Iola and GoodGuys. Iola is a haul for you (me too). I went last year and was amazed at the size of it all, as far as the swap meet is concerned.

Wizards of Rods Fun Run on the weekend of Back to the 50s. Located near Tomah Wi. Been a lot of people going to that instead of BTT50'S. Its Thursday eve-Sunday.

    Iolas car show is another.

If you like racing the Meltdown Drags are have their last go of it in July, I believe in Byron Ill

Another Nostalgia Drag Racing event os The Fallout Drags at Rock Falls Raceway near Eau Claire Wi. It is Sept 16th-18th.

Iola is worth the drive, and you'll want to get there by Thursday. If you're in the area anyway, on Saturday in Hillsboro WI (a few hours south) there's all flathead drag racing, really fun.

Unfortunately, the Final Meltdown has been cancelled: Meltdown #10 (meltdowndrags.net)
But if you dig the drags, I too would recommend hitting the Fall-Out Sept. 16-17 at Rock Falls Raceway. It's an absolute blast.

Damn, that’s a bummer. I read their release and I can definitely see their point.

    It's been more than that.

I hear you on the BS in the cities. We come in from the north to completely avoid University and Snelling. I remember when the cruises after the show around that area were almost better than the show itself!

Maybe the wrong direction, but i have really enjoyed Leadsled in Salina KS, its in July. Some absolutely unbelievable customs, they always bring in talent. Gene Winfield was there again last year in the unforgiving heat. I like shows outside my area to see cars i wouldn't otherwise see. The town accommodates us idiots pretty well. I'm east of the twin cities, its about 10 hour drive, which is my daily limit and taking 2 lane highways most of the way makes a great roadtrip. sorry i babbled on so long...

Yes, you do, I'll be there. In fact, we're kind of planning a trip out there the weekend of BTT50's.

Don't have any customs, but if I did I'd be there.

On my bucket list too once my 48 convertible is done. Hopefully it is good enough to run with that crowd.

PT 2 madd mayor.jpg Here's mine June 25th. Expecting 250 cars. Low key fun, no bs trophies. We have real good prizes to giveaway. We also do plaques for some fun awards.
We want the ones that enjoy cars and visiting with friends. No rat rods. https://fb.me/e/1XmOQ5HeY
