How are your swapmeets this year? I have many ol cars and I look for many ol parts. I usually go to Pate and Pe*** Jean but everything was shut down last year so I've been waiting too long. This year I have been to Pate, Chickasha, Canton, Pe***e Jean, Fredericksburg, Waco, Greenville, and Traders Village in Dallas, and Nothing to buy! I havent found anything in all those swaps. Are your swapmeets good?
Hoping for the LA Roadster's Father's Day Meet. Right now its a go but LA County owns the Fairplex where its held so anything is possible.
The Long Beach and Pomona, Ca. swap meets have been going. Not too bad of attendance. Decent amount of vendors. I haven't bought a swap space since the pandemic began at either swap meet so I can't tell you how sales have been. The L.A. Roadster/Swap Meet and the Grand National Roadster Show at Pomona are both scheduled for 2022.
Portland Swap Meet, "Always in April"............unless it's not! http://www.portlandswapmeet.com/index.php
I had a great time at Pate and bought more parts there than I ever have at a swap meet. Springfield MO was also good for me. Had a space and sold quite a few parts I no longer needed and also found wheels I had been searching for about 6 months. Lynn
The New Braunfels, Texas Swap Meet was held this past April. The number of vendors was down a bit. I'd guess around 50% of the usual 300+ spaces were occupied. It's hard to make a good guess because a lot of us parked our vehicles in the "no show" vacant spaces so it might have been less. My sales were less than a third of my usual so that's another barometer for measurement. I found this photo on the 'net. That's my '50 red panel truck next to my pop-up........ Photo by Lee Cabibi
Brad54's swap at the Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, GA has been fantastic over the past years- NHRA sold the track without giving Brad a chance to buy it, so we're now looking for land to move the swap... and put up an 1/8 mile track (the nearest track will be 3 hours away when Commerce closes)
Desmoines Swap Meet at the Iowa State Fairgrounds is this coming Friday/ Saturday. Takes about a morning or so to walk through depending on how much you look through boxes etc. and a coffee/ donut break halfway through. I enjoy the comradery seeing car buddies and shooting the breeze. Many of the same vendors in the same spots with the same stuff for the last 40 years which can get stale but sometimes you find something new that gets hauled out of a barn. That's the fun I guess finding a treasure. https://www.desmoinesautopartsswapmeet.com/ Greenfield was last weekend and I picked up some bargains although vendor count was down somewhat. Weather was great.
We just had a good one in Redmond Oregon. Always the 1st Saturday after Labor Day. Not real big but lots of good stuff and is free entry to shoppers. I always camp overnight in my spaces. Dave
I gave some thought to attending the Redmond meet but it is a 4 hour one-way drive for me and I don't travel as well as I used to. Glad to hear it was a successful event. Maybe next year.
You sound just like my buddy Bryan - who went to the same swap meets you did - and always whines he can't find anything to buy. But is always getting into someone's parts/cars stashed at their home and hauling stuff in.
I went to the Springfield, Mo. meet this year, not looking for anything in peticular, but spen all my money in about an hour! Looked like there was a ton of venders! Just a few empty spaces, I went Friday, they may have filled up,Saturday. Bones
