I think it is very important to know how "Hot Rodding" made it's roots.
To know where you are going, you have to know where you've been.

I'm sure Gary will look to see how many show up to watch.
If it's entertaining and pulls more people in, than it will expand to other places around the country.

Regional Grudge matches with a Nationals final Race ...? HMMMMMMM

Sometimes we forget how old / crusty and slow can be a hell of a lot more fun than boxes /bottles/batteries and fast.

(I try to tell my wife that anyway !)

It is important to really pump up this grudge match with a lot of trash talk, bragging and MOST OF ALL, put some value to it.

Besides the race - the winner gets to write loser on the other teams forehead or something like that.
All in fun - but pump this race up.....

It definitely wasn't you (before your time). It was early on and attitudes have GREATLY changed. I was just rubbing fun- I know that wouldn't happen now. Some people don't understand just because you open a site, look at it for a few minutes and then minimize it to look at it again in a few hours does not mean you are spending 8 hours solely looking at that site. The HAMB has gained me more knowledge than anything else combined (period) in the last 5 years.

Just to clear one thing up we were told we would get two or three runs a day,the event is 3 days long. So we will get more than three runs the intire weekend.

I was responding to your post, but my reply may have been a little nonsequiter. I was trying to agree that it is odd.

Also, I thought the "Dream Merger" was already made with the establishment of the "Suede & Chrome" area- an area especially for HAMB/BILLETPROOF loyalists. This just adds to the pie.

For the record, the H.A.M.B. and The Jalopy Journal have never been contacted by Goodguys. :)

Of course they haven't contacted you. To do that would show you respect and recognize that you are a leader through your sites. To contact you would recognize that you are equally a leader in the field. You can carry the thought from there.

Keep up the Revolution, Ryan.

22. Are you talking about the girls, the JimA and KIRK! drama or the HA/GR's running at the Goodguys event?

We got like three topics on this thread going on at once!

Both... not a huge deal as I would give them my blessing after consulting with Sam (that's his words, right?)... But I would also make them spell it right!

H.A.M.B. Gas Rails

Not a big deal, I'm just saying...

AZAV8- Get over the conspiracy theories. A conversation between hot rodders turned into an invitation to bring cars that have blood, sweat and tears into them to an event and show the world what they've built. There is no other agenda involved. No plan to steal anything from the HAMB, Ryan or anyone. I hate big brother too, but if you knew what really goes on here, you'd all be surprised at how mom and pop this place is. Honestly, I am the most "corporate" person here. That's the truth.

Sam- No drama here or on Jim's side I don't think. Just clarifying what each of us was responding to.

Ryan- I'll have our PR guy, John, contact you. Be sure to let him know about the spelling thing. He'll get it fixed right away. Also, the HAMB connection could be deleted if that was the decision. I know you're not saying that though.

It's NOT a co-branding deal at all people, in fact the readership of the news piece is only those who choose to go to the "news" section of the Goodguys website.

The HAMB is the reason those cars even exist, so not including it in their description would do those interested an injustice. For the record, the powers-that-be at Goodguys do recognize the power of the HAMB and especially of the members.

This should NOT be starting a bitch session. I think it's actually kind of cool.

Let's stick to supporting these two teams and what they've built. This is a FUN deal!

Ryan, Just a thought, How about some inaugural HAMB Gas Rail grudge match shirts to be available in INDY? It would bring in some $$$, Stickers would be good too!

I think it would have been good if GG would have contacted you about this first but I am glad you are OK with it.

See you guys here in INDY, Larry bring the coupe as a push car!!!

MY GOD! What have we done? The Ramrods and the Hornets thougt it was an honor to be invited to Indy. Plus we thought it would be a hell of a lot of fun. We are very loyal to the HAMB, and always will be, thats where we got our start. So let just go and have a fun time. Were looking foward to meeting alot of the Hamb members at Indy. Now,as far as the push car goes it wont be 3W Larry it will be Doc Parsons flathead powered T pulling the Ramrods around. Dont know about the Hornets.Speaking of them where are you sorry assholes? Havent heard from you here on the Hamb. Were going to beat your ass.:p :p

Mr. Mac, I think it's an honor. They definitely don't take an invite like the one extended to you guys lightly. They genuinely think the cars are cool...period!

Here's how the story now reads:

Fun. That’s what drag racing is all about according to Owasso, Oklahoma’s Ted McCord who drives a H.A.M.B. Gas Rail dragster. What’s a H.A.M.B. Gas Rail dragster you ask? According to McCord it’s “an economically favorable way to build a race car, race it and have fun.” McCord and his “Ramrods” team will square off against their Oklahoma rivals “The Hornets” in an old school “match race” in their funky, yet oh-so-cool Gas Rails at the upcoming Goodguys 18th Hot Rod Nationals presented by Advance Auto Parts, June 9-11 at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

H.A.M.B. stands for “Hokey Ass Message Board” and for the last 10 or so years it’s been a daily e-garage for do-it-yourself, traditional hot rodders to trade ideas, swap parts and shoot the breeze. Naturally, when you get a bunch of gear heads together be it online or elsewhere, competitive juices begin to flow and racing is just part of the deal. The H.A.M.B. Drags, a brain child of the H.A.M.B. crew were first staged a few years back at Mokan Dragway on the Kansas/Missouri border.

“Our team – the Ramrods, are from Owasso, OK which is a northern suburb of Tulsa. We run a flathead in our rail and put our car together with parts our club had lying around in our garages. The Hornets gang is from Broken Arrow, OK which is a southern suburb of Tulsa and so the rivalry goes,” McCord said. “In fact – they won’t even let us know who their driver is going to be at Goodguys Indy. We heard they’re gonna get them a little ol’ girl that doesn’t weigh more than a hundred pounds!”

The Indy H.A.M.B. Gas Rail match race should be fun indeed!

Here’s a look at the H.A.M.B. Gas Rail “guidelines”:

Then it lists the actual rules.
