Well, looks like Route 66 is still owned by the same people unless I missed something. I understood from Kirk if the same people remain there may be a Friday night drag race. Any updates?
As of last Tuesday there is still no answer according to our Event Director. I'll post as soon as I know.
The longer car shows go on the worse it gets. Events I went to like GG Indy, Hot Rod Reunion BG, KY and GG BG, KY with nostalgia drag racing are gone. The NSRA Lawn Chair events never had drag racing and their event turn out keeps dropping. Back in 93 at Louisville they had right at 15,000 cars registered, 2010 at Louisville just slightly over 10,000. Looks as if GG events will be Lawn Chair events also. Forget about cruising the Indy 500 track next year. Been there, done that at 40 MPH. BFD. I'm sure insurance premiums for drag racing are astronomical and are cutting into the profits. Like Milner said "Its just not the same anymore".
I agree, at least we still have the Hot Rod Reunion! From what I'm seeing theres a couple more nostalgia events in the works for Kentucky for 2011.
oldrags, are you sure the Hot Rod Reunion is still on? I thought last year was the last. I hope I'm wrong.
The NHRA Reunion will be at Beech Bend June 14,15,16.....NOTE that's Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Same format as years past, just a change in days. There is also a move by a couple of individuals in the business for a couple more events through the summer, but it's too early to release any specifics. Keep your summer available.
Thanks booger. At least there's one event left with nostalgia drags. Beech Bend my favorite place. Don't know of any other place that has seating any closer to the track.
According to NHRA's website, they have links to download credential info for the show and vendors.....Racers will get their packets mailed to them. The Thames panel truck on this year's logo is a good friend of mine. http://www.museum.nhra.com/apcm/templates/general.asp?articleid=676&zoneid=41&navsource=reunions
According to NHRA's website everything is a go......A good friend of mine's '48 Thames Panel is on the logo for this year's event. Look forward to going every year....Haven't missed one yet.
