You should probably start your own show, see how much it costs. then see if you can afford to do it again. You haven't been to Goodguys since it was $35, been a while and you, most likely won't be missed. Sure, they are in business to make a profit just like any other company. I do think it's a little steep but you have to play to play. Now shut up!
the swap might rent a smaller portion of the fairgrounds so the price is cheaper. this is a business, the company putting on the show is expected to make money. some events make money and some might breakeven or lose. Its about the bottom line at the end of the year,.... not just one event for them. $45 divided by 2500 cars is a reasonable charge (viewing value is less than 2 cents per car) vs $20 for a one day show with 250 to 500 cars ( viewing value is about 4 to 8 cents per car). Now if you only go to one event then the ***ociation fee does add extra cost, but the monthly mag is one of the best for looking at cars across the country.. For someone into all types of cars, its the best value for the money you can find and the best chance to see a full ranges of cars..
