I think that's a great idea. What a wonderful Venue that would be.

    You could suggest it here:

    http://www.goodguysforum.com/

But being that the President of Goodguys has posted on his own Forum, 7 times in the last 2-1/2 years, I can't bet that anyone cares.

Rhinebeck was my favorite show, the country was amazing and the fairgrounds. I was looking forward to the drive down this year. I won't be going to it as long as they have it at the big e. Very disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!! That sux

I for the life of me can not understand anyone going to a GoodGuys show and paying 85.00 or so to put their car in a show where Meadors charges up to $20.00 per spectator so that they can look at your car? I have gone to a couple in the past and left scratching my head thinking what the hell was I doing there! I have been boycotting Mr. Meadors shows ever since.
His move to the Big E will be as big a failure as Right Coast was! To all who frequent his "Shows" please rethink what is going on! It is a rape job for sure. Thanks for letting me rant.

I'm looking forward to the show...I'm going...I'm glad it's in my back yard and it's a good place for this...I missed it when Right Coast pulled out...I understand the greed thing with GG's...but the Big E is just as greedy...we'll see how long it lasts...West Springfield is not the crime capital of Western Mass...it's across the river...hehe...dam bridge!

Here's the flyer from the Hudson Valley Street Rods. I think it's going to be a good show.

Turns out,if they dont get the numbers this year, cars and spectators, there will be no more goodguys east coast nationals.

So take a show that is beloved by everyone and move it. Then threaten that if not enough people support the new venue they will take it away completely.
    Good planning.
Should be interesting to see how shows do this year with gas prices heading towards $5/gal. Gas prices won't kill the hobby, but will certainly curtail it until people adjust to the pricing.

If they can get a better spectator gate in Springfield, that would be a good thing. The Rhinebeck area isn't a populated area, and after several years of rain, folks simply weren't driving to the boonies. Those that "loved it" called it names and complained of the weather.... sure the hearty stuck it out, but the reality is that it was flailing.... Bottom line. Hopefully the central location in MA will pull people (cars and spectators) from the surrounding states that normally don't make the trek down into New York. New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, Delaware, as well as New York. I bet more people drove south than drove North (snowbirds aside...) to get to Rhinebeck. Gas is only a dollar or two more, if you get 15-20mpg, and don't have to drive all the way to Rhinebeck.... that's not a whole lot more money at all...

Demographics for Springfeild are not really the type of people into old cars. The large majority of people in the immediate area of the city would be more inclined to attend an import car show.
The Boston World of Wheels show a week ago was reported to be down about a third and this included letting in more cars that would not fit the rod or custom categories as we know them.
As far as who drove to Rhinebeck, I HIGHLY doubt most participants were from the north. And Springfield is not a real dreamy location-unless you enjoy parking in a blacktop lot next to buildings. Very few trees and not much grass.
Wait until the spectators and vendors get charge $ to park as is usually the case. That is not covered in the entrance to the show as the parking lot is supposedly run by another outfit. Atleast that is how it is for every other event they have there.
I am pretty sure this is the kiss of death.
I think you will find that the demise of the show started right after they moved the event from Sept to June to help boost the Pocono show that was in poor shape. You know, the show that started in Carlisle, had a bunch of years off then opened at Hershey, then moved to Pocono and changed the date from June to Sept.
And if you don't think the cost of gas will effect people travelling this year, you must have your head in the sand. Although 20mpg is possible, reality is that most 'hot rods' get 10-14 mpg-many much less.
I am sure the know what they are doing...

i dont think we'll be going due to the price to get in. There are plenty of local shows free of charge and we need to save the pennies to build a car. The show sounds fun and i hope they can get a lot of people to go. The fact is that; theyd probably get an absolutely HUGE turnout if the entry fee wasn't through the roof. They'd have one kickass show if that was the case. I know we'd be there if the entry fee was 20-30 bucks.
Springfield is a much more centered location for people to go to and believe it or not; there are lots of great backroad routes to get there if you want scenery and leisurely driving. Here's hoping for a great show for everyone; maybe one year we can make it if its affordable.

Oh and the Big E grounds are HUGE and really nice. I show cattle there and frequent the grounds for Ag events. It'll be great, open area for a car show. Everyone will enjoy it.

if you're looking for Hotels look in the Enfield, CT area. Its literally 10 minutes from the fairgrounds in CT and there is a nice backroute to get there and avoid I-91 through agawam, MAss. The backroute puts you right at the entrance gate to the fairgrounds.

I might remind the nay-sayers that the Columbus event, our largest event, is right in the middle of the hood and we haven't had problems with that.. and also.... I see the registration lists for the Rhinebeck event, and lots of members come down from the north... You might be surprised...

We really don't know.. it has been bad for a long time and it has been steadily declining, even when the weather was kind of nice... It was better, obviously, but not like it had been in the past. It is what it is.

PLUS, the "fairgrounds" decided to have their own event instead.... so even if we had wanted to stay, it wasn't working out.

i used to take my 55 Buick from central CT to Rhinebeck using both I84 and the parkway running 4.56 gears and a spool. Oh what a ride for sure. Yup including several years in the rain. If you go to any show long enough you will have years when it rains.
Lead East never seems to suffer terribly from rain for car count. Been down there several times with the same Buick.
But what do I know. I just attend the shows, haven't put one on in a few years now...

Joe thats awesome that you do that with the 55 etc. How long of a ride was it? My car just rides really rough in the back with no shocks and all the springs i been considering some changes.... Maybe if you we`ll hook up and go to one sometime..

There is no threat. Internet rumors are not truth.
