This upcoming weekend (april 11th and 12th 2015) is GSTA's 59th annual car shows, its always a fun time and some great cars. They try and hold thier standards pretty high, but somehow ive managed to display some crusty old cars there, and this years no different, ill be putting my 36 ford coupe survivor in the show, in my usual spot! so come on out and see them if your in the area!

heres a link to a post about my coupe

Were going to have one of heck of a show this year. In addition to seeing over 100 of the area's finest Hot Rods, Customs, Street Machines and Motorcycles on display and Danielle Colby from American Pickers appearing, we will be having from California, Legendary Hot Rod Builder Vern Tardel join us as well as one of his original creations on display. Vern has been building traditional Ford Hot Rods for over 50 years, when they were the "hot ticket" item instead of a nostalgic throwback to the past. Vern wrote the book on Building a Traditional Hot Rod...literally, as he has written a dozen books on the topic.

For more information on Vern, visit his website: www.verntardel.com

Here's a you tube link to see a neat video of Vern in his shop.

  4. Just scored two tickets, so I'm going. Was going anyway but free tickets just makes it so much better.

Going Sunday. My friends dad brought us there as children over 30 years ago. And just a few years ago, I stood in the exhaust stream of the "Hawaiian" as Roland Leong fired it up outside. I couldn't breath for a few seconds, my ear drums pounded as the engine cracked like lightning, and my eyes watered immediately. It was awesome.

Thanks for posting the link to the photos. There's some O/T stuff in there too but we can work around that.. ;)
I was really impressed - again - with the show, actually went back again Sunday morning for a bit to look around. My three favorites, if I had to narrow it down to three, were your '36, the 'Vette next to it, and Cliff Anderson's '56 F-100. I just checked out your thread on the '36 - that's one of the neatest stories I've read in awhile. I'd also like to know more about the "U.S. Male" 'Vette - if I remember right, the guy who owns it used to have a gasser-style Willys coupe and I think a Willys Ute pickup too?? What more can you tell us?
Personally, I think you should plan to have the refreshed '36 on display at the 60th GSTA show - center stage in the main arena!!

Jon Hagness of Oseo Wi owns the vette, it was raced here in Mn in the 60s, i can try and get more info on it, but many many many people at the show knew it.

Yep, my favorite cars at the show too, plus my buddies black T coupe, which is a survivor car too and it just so happens the original builder was at the show and got in contact with up, he started building it in 1954.

well see what happens for next years GSTA!

Thanks for the info - this just keeps getting better! That "T" is pretty sweet so I'll bump it up to FOUR favorites...
at least until I can think of another one...
