I finally scored an old drag race car for my musuem....I don't know much about it yet, but it is the Hart Automotive 33 Willys I would like to thank Big Al (Big Al's List) and Buckeye Joe for thinking about me and giveing me the lead for this car....The history of it as I know it today, Larry Covert purchased the car from Micky Hart. I am not sure as to what Larry did to the car. I beieve at some time its life it sat in a barn with squirlles living in it. Along came Ron Wilson who had just gone through a divorce...He had no money and lived in an old farm house on the front of Larry's property..To keep his mind off of stuff, he started to work on Pure Determination for Larry....Sometime along the way, Larry gave the willys to Ron. Larry p***ed away 12 years ago. From what it looks like, Ron was making the willys into a street rod. He got it to where it is today. Looks like he put about 200 miles on it. Ron p***ed away the end of last year. I purchased the willys from Ron's estate. I plan to eventually restore this car, so any pictures and information you have would help me greatly! I have heard some stories that this is one bad car!
Ron's son also told me that is was in Hot Rod magazine....thanks!

Here it was the day I went and looked at it....I guess Hart Automotive were one of the firsts to put a wing on the back of a g***er...

  12. Great score Don! I don't think I have any pics of that one but if any turn up I will let you know. Doesn't look like it has been changed around too much, lucky you.

"Boy Howdy" that is nice, I have never seen the wingettes on a car like that, looks like they were on it very early on.

    Wow!! Neat piece!!

  16. Love the old photos Don. What jumped out at me was the lack of any cl*** designation on the car, and nothing poking up through the hole in the hood. Pulling the wheels, it must have been an A or B G***er that day.

As the owner of another old famous G***er, I congratulate you on this and saving it from Street Rodderdom. It will be cool to see it restored to it's racing glory! Keep us updated.

Wow! that is a very cool 33! Congrats, you may have already done this but i did a quick Google Image search for Hart Automotive and the 33 popped right up but had a different paint job in those pics. Is it the same car? It said it was AA/Gas at Dragway 42 and had the two wings.
