.....54 GMC. Not totally bad shape, mostly sheet metal work. Problem is I neglected to look closely at the pics prior to buying and totally missed that its still got its 5 window status(it was a farm truck and figured it had gone by the wayside. Puts crimps in the plans I developed in my mind of an open wind truck. I feel bad convertibilizing a 5 window. Now playing around with the idea with a chopped top, but keeping trimmed corner windows. Anybody know how well a Caddy 331 would fit in place of the 283 6 in it? Just playing with ideas. Pics in a few days.....
You will have ample room to insert a Cad motor. You'll just need to change the steering box to something else, smaller. r
Scratch- If ya chop it you can cut the 5 w openings of the small windows and remove the bottom of the mount lip/and do a tape mount of the stock corner gl***es on the inside of shortened holes[theyre tempered]
Hell wack the top off of it and ship it to me I'll make sure it finds a good home. You can make new quarter windows out of lexan, just heat it in the oven and lay it over the original quarters, when it cools cut it to shape on a bandsaw and polish it. They don't need to be gl*** they don't roll up and down or have wipers on 'em.
You know I was talking with the one guy in my office after i wrote that and was wondering how Lexan would work. Might be tricky getting the right curvature, but hey don't know if you don't try. Think I might give it a try. Also playing with the idea of still making a convertible, with the original(after chop) top as the removable roof. Sure it would be a tug removing and putting on, but it would satisfy my peculiar needs. Its gonna be my shop truck when I get something going.
