Beautiful car Larry - I'm sure you're proud as all heck to have it in such good hands. Thanks for letting us all know
(BTW, I figured a repost of the pic was in order - who wouldn't want to see it again and again?)

Larry, we're going right by your house(sort of) when we drive to the LA Roadster Show this year.

If you wanted to follow along... heck! You can take off and LEAD us out there so you can check on your old 3W. We've got a 3w going with us if that will help encourage you. You could look at it all the way out there... and back!

    Just sayin'

I'm pleased that the car is going into Bruce's collection; bet it'll get driven a bit. It will look good close to Bruce's black/black 300SL coupe, making a pair of handsomely designed and executed purposeful machines.

David Kelley of IDEO is widely known as one of the most innovative product designers in the world. That he bought something you built says all that could be said about the fact that you got it right.

Nope. It`s about the journey, and family. Because of your Journey with that car, we (well, some of us anyway...) became your Family.......Don`t forget that neither thing is done just yet....:)

And yeah, I get the practicality financial. Those lessons never sting as much as we think, though...

What's funny to me is whoever has the keys to this iconically growing 3w is that they will have paid big money for it and can enjoy it's pleasures. But thousands of people will always see it as Larry's cause he was there when it mattered teaching'r to move and feel like that.

Yes I was intentionally trying to sound lewd.

Larry, that car, as nice as you made it, was just a learning tool. Now, take the experience of building that sum***** and build a super kick-*** hotrod! Maybe an over the top, ultra traditional 33-34 coupe...something with some STYLE!!!

I don't get into that whole "caretaker" thing. Larry had a bad*** Deuce that HE OWNED. His OWNERSHIP proved to provide a benefit larger than that, and apparently at the right time. Bruce Meyer OWNED it, and now OWNS IT again (good for him). He wants to OWN it because Larry also BUILT the car he OWNED. By his own hand, his ideas, his resources, no matter. HIS car. The end result has become respected and to some degree revered, enough that Bruce wanted it back. OWNERSHIP has it's priviledges, sometimes rewards, sometimes a little bit of history too if we live long enough to see it or be a part of it. Caretaker? Why does it make see a broom, a leaf blower, a feather duster...? We care for our stuff sure, but the way I see it I care for it for MY reasons. I happen to OWN it and wish to maximize my experiences with it. Might be my ****in dually, my trailer, surely my 39 Tudor, maybe even my sled again (currently sleeping in a distant corner). For someone else? Just "taking a turn" with it? I guess I should cover my seats to leave em new for the next OWNER. Nah, I think I'll wear em out and let them refresh em for their OWNERSHIP when i'm done with it, whatever it may be...?

  19. Glad to see it in Bruce's hands - one of my favorite cars on here Larry.

Damn shame you don't have it anymore....

It will always be your car Larry. That's exactly why I just can't buy a finished car. I never would feel I truly own it. By far one of the best 32's ever. Hell. Sell the house and buy it back.

Very few cars are truly perfect. That one is. Could not be better, and it will be taken very good care of for sure.

Only noted as such because when you buy an iconic car with a particular provenance, at least in my experience, people remember it in ***ociation with the original builder / owner more often than not. (e.g.- Doanne Spencer's roadster)^^

I owned an El Camino for almost ten years, and everyone still referred to it as "Jimmy's car".

I had a '40 Ford coupe when I was a kid that was always referred to as "Ronnie Feener's car". It used to piss me off- NO! it's MY car!! But it's just the way it was. ( at least here in the Nawtheast).
(I've lived in the same house for 30 years , and it's still "Bob Field's house" to the locals!)( I wish he was still paying the taxes!)

No disrespect to anyone who becomes a "caretaker" of something special; it's an honor and a huge responsibility. It's just a word, not a negative label.
(And we all know that Larry is a dadgummed icon!!)

I still recall when you ran it in GG Hot Rod of the Year with us, 2007 maybe. Should have won. Minor new car issues knocked it out, Thanks for letting me sit in it, still remember the details.

I have always been a five window guy but I must admit this is a three window I would not mind owning. Has to be the best looking 3 window out there. Great to see it again.

Nice to see Bruce have it in his collection along with several other significant 3-windows. Your's has always been the leader of the pack with a different punch than his others. He is the right person to own your car. He drives his cars and is approachable and knowledgeable about each of them. I will look for it on the streets of LA. Here are his other two 3-windows.

Note: David Kelley was the inventor of the mouse which we use everyday.

Funny, about the 'previous owner' syndrome. There is a large number of folks with "Prufer's Old Car"(s)
Shame about the economy (and the reigning genius I blame for it)

Larry's "Old Car" is like a gun to me. They would have had to pry it from my cold, dead hands...
