So i was down in oakland the other day and found this semi rough but rust free 1963 olds dynamic 88. it was in this wear house full of cars and the guy is trying to off some of them. I saw that the latest rod and custom has an article on one of these.

That would make a good daily driver. Does it have the original drivetrain? I saw the article in R&C too, very nice car. What are your plans for it?

it does have the orig drive train in it but the motor seems locked up. i am going to take the heads off and see if i can find the problem. other wise i might go to with the 350/350 combo

i pulled the intake and valve covers and the valley pan and to my dismay i fond the creeping rust fungus. if this pic posts it shold show the p*** valve cover off. i think when this thing was parked it may have had a head gasket problem. more pics to come as i get it torn down. does any one know if the impala motor mount system is the same as the 63 olds? thanks

Sweet car. With that hardtop roof, if you slam it low, it would really stretch that ****er out, too. I really dig the "not so obvious" car choice. I always gravitate toward ones like that at the shows.

That car on R&C would be lownslow, Donnie Baird owner of Imperial Customs. He is a master painter as you can see with his own ride. KNUX!

i got the head off and i found that the cyl is rotten bad. it also has the slim jim trans in it. I think it will need a sleve at the minimum. and i found a "good running" 394 for 750.00, and a 350/350 for 500.00. does anyone have any idea if there is a kit to put a 350 into one of these? or is getting some generic mounts and fabing it up the way to go?

its kinda hack but one time I put a different motor in a car . I put the motor mounts on the motor and set it in the car and cut new holes with a torch.

the engine is frozen solid and i think the piston will break if i try to remove it. bummer. i found a 350/350 combo in a car that i got to see and hear run, i am going to go that way. i dont have the $ to do a proper rebuild on the 394 right now, and from what i understand those slim jim trans are pricey to rebuild also. i'll post more pics as it goes, thanks for the input

Olds are very cool. I almost got a 64 starfire last year. Very cool find.
