Hot Rods Got my 56 chevy street freek/gasser !!!!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by meatball, Mar 22, 2009.

  1. Well after trying to find this car since the late 70s I got my 56 delivered from Portland yesterday!A kid I went to school with (class of 74) and his grand father built it right after we got outa high school. The car disapeared in about 1980 and I figured some asshole ripped out the axle and put a nova clip under it etc. Well I was wrong and it had been in warm dry storage the complete time (so Ive been told).anyway I found it on ebay and was able to put a deal together and now its mine FOREVER! I really need to thank three people in Portland for their help Robbie Davis who really made the deal possible at all (tie-rods c.c.) Mark Hansen of Hanson autobody for allowing the car to come into his shop as a favor to Bob "SPIRIT"Spencer a long time friend a a great pinstriper, his work has been on every car/bike Ive owned since the late 70s.Mark and Bob as a surprise/gift to me redid the lower blue and fixed all the bodywork along with the front splash pan the cut/buffed and striped the car.I cant tell you guys how much this meant to me,when the transporter showed up and dropped the car I felt 25 again and it was a true flash back to the last time I saw the car in person in the late 70s.well its home nowThanks to 3 great freinds and hotrodders in the Portland areaThanks alot guys. Now about the car,its in really good shape however the front end is in need of attention as it is all over the street but a easy fix,the only other things are all due to storage.tires,hoses,etc.Its a 327 with a 4speed and a 4:11 posi.....anyway sorry about this being so long but this has been like my birthday and Christmas all in one/I will post again after I get rid of the huge front wheels....:D:D

This is really neat, congratulations! Many of us have had cars that we lost connection with that haunt our memories.

Now help me find my 57 Corvette that I let go in a flash of stupidity in 1981.

  3. heres a better side shot,as it was found before stripe work, and touch up

Oooh, I like that! Reverse off-set Cragars rule!

Here's a little inspiration... CAUTION: Not rockarriffic friendly.... may cause irritation to those with allergies to wide tires.... :D

  22. Good for you meatball! I love a happy ending.

  23. My 2nd car was a 56 so I always had the want for another. That's so cool you found it. One of my favorite things was to go to the service station and tell the gas jock to give me $5.00 worth and watch his reaction when he couldn't find the gas cap >>>>.

I'd set a church bus full of old ladies on fire for that steering wheel.
