  2. Well I started this thread a year ago and I gotta tell you all, this has been damn near the best "car year" since I was a teenager and bought my first modelA hotrod. The car has gone thru alotta upgrades in the last year but none have really changed the look or "vibe" of the car and everything done has been done with period correct parts down to the Sun super tach 2.for all the guys in Oregon that helped I still can't thank you enough and thanks for all the guys & gals on the HAMB that have either helped me find parts or just had something postive to say.........this car will be with me for a very long time to come and I cant wait to drive it everywhere any time...................Meatball

    Nice Plate.....

  7. Well guess I gotta come up with a new idea to keep the fenders off the tires,it had been held up with HI-JACKERS along with shackles but after 30plus years I had to replace them.....I went to monroes (bad idea #1) but still needed a couple of inches more since the old shocks were longer/bigger and held more air.well I tried to weld on extensions(bad idea #2) and the damn things snapped in the first miles.......so more spring or what?????

how about getting the springs re-arched? you can order custom springs from a place called eaton detroit springs also. thats where i got my rear springs.

  9. thats what Im thinkin or adding some long leafs......I need to go up like 4-6 inches

  10. We used to use station wagon rear springs back in the 1960s... :D

Why not just go back with what worked for 30 years?
Do they still make the highjackers?
Im assuming your car does have a bar running across the frame from side to side where the shocks mount instead of the old trunk/body mounts, correct?

How about getting some new Cragars ...I special ordered some 15x10 with 5.5 back spacing for my 56 and I have 29x12.50-15 fitting under the fender wells...

  14. thought aboutthat but it wont work 1 the ladder bars wont fit and I would have to weld all the perches etc.,I really like the look now with the deep cragars (Im running about the same tires as you) and the car has been like this since the 70s so I gotta find a way to maintain this look,Im thinkin more leafs and changin the angle of the shocks to more straight up than the lean that it had which was alot, there is a new brace welded along the bottom of the frame to mount the shocks from and not the old body spot..............
