Rocky, I wouldn't begin to give you my opinions on what to do with your car... you've seen mine, right? The only thing I do know is, it's gotta have that traditional Rocky stance- low and leaning just enough. The polished hubcaps and painted rims would look good with a lesser whitewall ( 1 7/8inch like mine.) They are cheap and handle just fine. I don't think that 6 cyl would shred them too severely. I trust your eye and judgment. I haven't seen you build a bad one yet. I know the Rambler was built for sheer speed and terror, not for looks... so that one doesn't count. Bil
Get Ready for Rocky's Retro Superhero project.... "Atomic batteries to 'Power'...turbines to speed...ready to move out!" Holy Poncho, Batman!!!!
Fat Hack ..., you "REALLY" have way too much time on your hands!!! (Keep it up!) LOL Rocky..., How about a 389 w/tri-carbs???? Awesome score....!
Bil...your killin me here! Yeah, I built the Rambler for sheer speed and terror alright....and I was terrified to drive it over 60 mph...it worked!
bradberry, that pic RULES! I LOVE the roofline on that 41. Id do it to my 46 if I had any clue how to do it lol
EPILOUGE: Rocky finally saw it Fat Hack's way and hired a PR person to give him a rockstar/pro-wrestler make-over, and began hitting the fairgrounds tours with his latest and BADDEST creation!!! With his 455-SD powered Pontiac Injun "BRAVEDIGGER", Rocky took the Monster Truck world by storm and signed a lucrative series of endor*****t and product licensing contracts...rivaling Bob Chandler's legacy in the realm of Monster 4x4s!!! (Here's an early photo taken as Rocky was ironing out his creation!!)
Good to see the Poncho made the trip home safely, you've got about 6 months to get it runnin' till the Bologna Nat's in Pella...I'll talk you into it one of these days. Bring some of the boys from the west coast of IA (Misery River) with you.
Steve, that sounds like a great idea. I drove my old 48 Poncho there for "the nats" one year and I may do it again real soon...in the meantime, the old pontiac sits in the snow waiting it's turn in the garage..
Nice Rocky! Nice! Love the slanted posts. You thought about fixing the paint problems w/ some flames? They always work well at covering up little paint mishaps
296...maybe but I need more info and you need to know I'm about 1800 miles from you. I already have a free, paid-for 400 with 350 turbo sitting in a garage in northern Oregon but logistics prevent me from getting my own 400 to Omaha for less than I can buy one here! If you wouldn't mind, e-mail me with some details tho...thanks!
[ QUOTE ] 400 or 455, 4 speed is more my speed [/ QUOTE ] Mine too, hooray for hot rods! Might I suggest a disguise on the Poncho mill to backdate it? I'm thinking Super Duty 421 guise, though Trophy 389s are just as cool.
