Thought i would post a couple pics not sure what these covers were painted like when they were new but thought i would paint them flat black then sand the tops off instead of polishing them. trying to do things on the cheap. Have done a couple atv motors like this so i figured why not these. Trying to dress up the 289 as old as I can. Still have one to sand the balck off the top. let me know what ya think good or bad start middle end
I've always dug M/T's on a late 60' 70's style car. My Anglia has sported a set since '68 and I have a set of SBF fully polished. IIRC they came Plain, Polished and like you did them only Wrinkle Black
Those look great! I thought about doing mine in black too. That long blank area is a perfect spot for some extra breathers. Had Offys on mine. Here's a before and after I did on mine.
they look great, I used muratic acid on some, rinsed and sanded the tops they almost looked like magnesium.
They look great. I'm in the process of doing the same thing to mine but not going black. Going to do them the same color as the car.
Looks good from here. I have a set which had pealing flat black paint on them. I used paint stripper from the hardware store and repainted them with gloss black. I haven't gotten around to sanding the tops though.
nice ,very nice . and on the cheap too ! You can't beat that.... Will look real nice on the motor....
Thanks everyone for the comments.. Those Offy breathers are a great addition! i figure by the time i get them done i should have about $50 in them. cant wait to get this project movin!
