Sorry no pics, there up in Illinois and i'm here in Florida. My father picked two frame rails up from a friend. Says their in good shape...was said to be A rails...just the two rails and no crossmembers. I had Dad check for numbers and he found an 8 digit string of numbers...no A preceeding or following the numbers. I did go to a site to help me verify and no luck. No eight digit numbers. So I'm confused. Dads not a Model A guy in general...not sure what we have at the moment. Next question for the crowd. If you had the option of spending a little more money and finding another complete frame...would you? Also, If I go with a A frame I'm sure I'll want to channel it and had wanted to do a mild chop. BUT, I'm 6ft tall and I'm not sure if a 3-4" channel and 2-3" chop would work for me. I've got enough issues with my back to add some more. Final Question...as the front crossmember will either be replaced or fabbed. If it is a set of A frame rails, could a guy push the front crossmember forward to gain some engine compartment space? Thanks Boxcar
Model A frames are easy to find for pretty cheap. I've seen nice complete ones go for $200. It seems like you're rails might be expensive to ship to you if they still need crossmembers
I've had good luck shipping stuff through UShip before...you may have to wait a bit but you can get some really killer deals. Sometimes if a truck is running that route already, tossing your stuff on with it costs practically nothing if you get lucky. Worth a try. I'd love a set of free A rails, so I'd hate to see 'em go to waste!
Shineysideup http://www.mafca.com/data_eng_production.html I just re-looked at the Model A site to check those numbers. I still dont see an 8 number string production number for the Model A years 28-31. Murocmaru My whole project is up there at my dads place so there's no shipping issues. I do have the Moultrie GA show in the crosshairs in two weeks...might get something there. I'm planning on taking my truck and after the show will be heading up north to Illinois for a week of working on my 28.
Yea, I don't have an A on mine....just 8 numbers. I may need to ask my father to check again...maybe he read a number twice.
Update...The rails are not A's. Number was all wrong and on the wrong side, bolt holes did not line up and the length was wrong. So more s**** metal to add to the collection. Thanks all for chiming in.
