Got to drive it >>>>>>>

  1. I got to go for a drive in my panel for the first time today since I got it. I didn't go far since the front end needs an alignment, I take it for that tommorow. Boy, I'm stoked now, can't wait to get the frontend done and drive the shit out of it.

Congrats! Nothing like that first ride.

My first test drive in the coupe, it was 17 degrees, no doors, no glass no seats, missadjusted brakes, steam coming off of all the coolant leaks in the moonlight. Too cool to handle!

That's cool! I remember the first drive in my car, all the dust and shit being blown around because it sat for so long!

But then fuel pump broke, and then the radiator spewed forth all its distgusting glory, and then the gas tank started in. Now that that is all fixed, the damn distributer took a crap!!

Don't ya love old cars?! (At least I found a replacment distributer on ebay for $5.) Anywho...

Are you taking it to a mom and pop type place for an alignment, or a chain? I've been waiting on lowering my front until I can afford an alignment, but I don't know who would do one. I didn't know if a chain type place would want to mess with old cars?

  7. Hope I don't run out of gas I put 10 gallons in after I installed the new sending unit for the new gas gauge.

I'm taking it to more of a mom and pop garage to have the alignment done. The guy got kinda excited when I told him it was a '60 Chevy Panel. He said, there ain't many of them around, and couldn't wait to see it.

Okay, that's what I want to look for anyway. A friend of ours bought his wife a '67 Camaro, and was having a hell of a time getting the brakes to work right. Nobody would touch it! They all said it was too old, but drum brakes are drum brakes, pretty much anyway right? I'm not sure who ended up fixing it, but I'm pretty sure it was mom and pop shop.

I was just courious, thanks! I hope it goes well and you can enjoy your car. [IMG]

  9. I got the front end done. Even after I just put some shims in the driver's front to straight the tire it wasn't that far off. Guy couldn't believe that it had sat since 1981, and the frontend hadn't been rebuild afterwards. Just a couple of shims out of the driver's side (that I put in) and a few out the other side, set the tow and I was off.

It does have a racketing sound when I turn a corner. [IMG] Sound almost like it's got a locker in the rear axle. Low on oil? or something worse?
