You have a roadster and got to fly that plane. Now I have to hate you. Sounds like a lot of fun. I got to ride in and "fly" a T-6.

  7. Damn...that picture screams cool...I would have been happy just sitting in the ****pit making airplane noises! :D

  9. Very, very awesome. 450 horsepower at 230 mph maxium speed! What a trainer aircraft!

Great stuff - love that polished finish. I flew a T-6 and a few other old warbirds earlier this year at Stallion 51 in Kissimmee, Florida...

Buddy out at my airport (VGT) has a T-6, and I've been allowed to "drive" it several times. Keep offering to trade him my C-185 for it...but he strangely declines, guess he doesn't like to be too comfortagle. Also a guy out there with a P-51, but he's a bit stand-offish, although easy enough to talk to, as long as you're talking about HIM.

  12. Vultee "********"......I flew in a SNV, the Navy version.
There also is a BT-13 next door.

I love the sound of Round Engines!

    Sweet!

  17. Never heard of a BT-13 that could do 230 mph, I don't think thr V-NE is even that high.

I'm sure it was still a cool ride though. ;)

  18. Yeah, I prefer P-47s myself. :D But in a pinch an 11-AC will do, it gets you off the ground.:p

    That's really cool!

My Dad was a pilot and all around airplane nut, I helped him rebuild a Stearman when I was a teenager then helped him with another one when I was in my late 20s. good times.:)

  22. That I might agree with.

Too cool! Used to be a BT-13 around here all the time but I haven't seen it
in years. The Stallion birds fly over a lot and once had a T-6 shedding
(shredding) cowling parts over me while I was mowing. I hitched a ride in a
    TP-40 last fall.

Ramblur - any more shots of that TP-40? Looks like you were at Fantasy of Flight?

Great place - flew the Stearman when I was there in March...

Yes, I'm neighbors with Kermit. I gave up wrenching on aircraft to go back
to the family business building campgrounds/RV parks in 86. A few years
later Kermit bought the pasture next door and has tormented me ;) ever
since. More pics of the TP-40 here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=415808 Jeff

  27. That looks like Bob Locks' New Standard on the left. He use to live north of us in Selma before moving to Florida. That is one neat airplane, made in the late '20s specificaly for giving rides. The front seat fits three or four I believe, look at the wings and the landing gear they are made to carry a load. ;)
