And anything that has to do with "Sunshine"...! Went for a ride in my friends convertible this weekend and got really Sun Burned...! Reminds me of my "Old Roadster" days... One word "SUNBLOCK" I can't tell you how "Cool" it is to slide the canopy open and ride around with your arm on the sills...!!!! We did have a little issue with a bunch of traffic as well as a boat load of "Invisible Potholes"! But the Veterans told us that it looked good from the ground and saluted our formation of Six aircraft...!!! Four T-6's, One Russian Yak and One T-34...!!! The second formation had one P-51, one T-33, and three T-28's...! They were too fast for me to capture on camera. My friends have been doing this for the past ten years... flying over the VA Hospital, Veterans Memorial, and several parades each year and I've been blessed to ride along and take photo's... How Cool is that...?! Gotta get my Roadster done and out in the sun... Know any "Goth Chicks" that want to convert...??? Hahahaha...!
coolest thing i think i have ever seen was a P51 mustang dive bombing the crowd at a little air show in lancaster, OH in the fall. they had corsairs, an F4F and F6F as well as a catalina this year. that mustang almost brought tears. a B-1 bomber flew over, and while it amazed me how quiet it was until it was several hundred yards PAST us, it wasn't even clsoe to the P51. now THAT is a plane... neat pictures, man. a friend of my dad used to do VERY low al***ude flyovers in stearmans and T-6 texans. the texan gets pretty quick, so he never got too low with it, but i swear he had the PT-17 stearman less than 10 feet off the ground. and from our vantage point on a little knob of a hill, we could look DOWN at the plane coming at us. i bet nobody else has a dog that used to chase airplanes instead of cars...
Thanks for sharing the pics. Looks like a candidate for pic of the week to me. Real airplanes have pistons! I saw a T-6 punching holes in the sky this past weekend while at the lake. Nothing gives me goose bumps like the sound of a round motor.
Cool as a bucket of polar bear ****! - I'm very jealous, can't beat the throb of a waffle iron motor. Keep the pics coming. Makes complaints about pump gas prices look lame - how much gas for an hour in the air?
That looks sooooo cool. I'd like to try and fly formation sometime, but I dunno about the other people. I'm cool flying by myself, It gets sketchy when I'm close to other people in the air. How many hours did the pilot have?
S-U-PERB!!!! Good pics, and a good cause, too. Can't hardly get better. I used to go to the air races whenever they were close enough to get to without taking too much time away fron work eek. Love the growl and rumble of the engines. I worked on radials and jets in the Navy, and loved almost every minute of it. Nothing like the growl of an Allison, or the rattle of an eighteen cylinder radial to got the juices moving - well, a blown Hemi can do it, too.
i think i may have heard you guys...or...one of you. that's rad that you do that on mem. day. plus, what a way to see our city.
Man that's cool. About a year ago here at the airport where I work, there was a group of 25 or so Chinese "Yak" (CJ6) owners who gathered here to get their airshow formation flight endorsments. I got to ride back seat in the lead plane in a flight of 4 aircraft while they practiced various formations over a nearby lake. Man, talk about *****in', I wish that I had had my camera with me. These guys were all really cool and they really like having someone in the back seat when the fly. Most of them consider it a huge waste if their back seat is empty on a flight and they mercilessly give **** to any pilot who won't fly with a p***enger.
Very cool................I enjoy it when the airshow season hits the mid-west and I am out in the yard or garage and I hear the rumble from a motor in the sky.......I almost trip over myself trying to find it up in the air. Nothing like getting "buzzed" from a plane. Chris Nelson Kansas Oh yea, the thing that is cool. I have a 10 & 7 year old nephews and they here the planes and seek them out in the sky also. Must be growing up in a smaller town thing.
That looks even better from up there, y'all flew over my house on Monday in formation and it made me proud to be an American...and the sound those planes put out is beautiful.
There's an air show here in Rock County, WI june 10-11. They're supposed to get the Yankee Airforce B-17. I'm going, are you?
Now that's Funny... That's what we call Formation Flying when we trade paint at 2,000 feet... !!!!!! Hey Bugman I might be there depending on my ride... !
Cool pics. They had a B-17 and a B-29 here in Sacramento over the weekend. They were out at the old McClellan AFB. What a sight, to here that motor and look up and see a B-17 flying over. I tried to imagine what it was like in Europe in WWII with a formation of those flying overhead with an ****** of fighters on their way to a bombing run. Two favorite planes from WWII were the B-17, my Dad was a bombadier in one, and the P-38.
Cool pictures, looks like you had a killer time. Me personally, you couldn't pay me to go upin one of those little planes! But I hate flying period... guess I'm just a chicken.
Damn!! I love the sound of round motors in the morning!! I can second that feeling of hanging an arm out the window especially while rolling over the tarmac at speed with the gear up.... There is nothing like it.
hell yeah its great isnt it. Back when i was 16, my mom bought me a two hour ride in a T-6. we get up in the air and the pilot starts diving, throws is hands up, and says "its all yours" SO DAMN COOL
