Here's the latest progress on the fender graft. I know it's been a while, I've been working on other parts of the build too, sometimes you have to step back a minute.
Now where the body line goes down the side, do you cut out underneath and butt-weld the Caddy metal into the fender? I saved the quarter spears from a '64 Pontiac with the idea I could put them on the side of my Chevy, leading into the quarter bulge or even going into a scoop on them, along the same lines as what you're doing on the front fenders of yours.
Rusty, that's exactly what I did. Just cut the same distance above and below the body line, tape it to the car and measure so you know you have it straight, then trace it and cut that part out of your existing fender and butt weld the new piece in. It makes for a very unique car and most people won't tackle something like that so it's very worth it for the reaction it brings. I continued mine into the door which is tough which makes that much more unique. I hope you decide to do it. If you do, good luck and go for broke.
Almost done! Once I get the 60 Chrysler tail lights in I'll lead the whole car. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=11091&pictureid=292174
