I believe that the Hexagon Tool Intake actually was for the Miller/Tucker/Ford 35 Indy car effort. Engines turned around backwards as the racers were front wheel drive. Hence the carbs being backwards.

  4. I never heard that but then again I don't know much about Indy cars. Iv always been told it was so the generator fit. But I can see why you would need them backwards with a front wheel drive. You are one hell of a historian Kevin. Do you have any pictures of those old Indy cars. I have my eyes on a few old sprint car parts. I need to learn more about them before I start hunting them.

  6. That thing is knarly

  7. I run a Hexagon Tool intake on my roadster and it runs great . I too have heard about the Ford Miller story but all the ones I've seen have had four carbs on it and no gen stud. I think the reason for the backward carbs is generator clearance and to get them centered on the motor for even fuel distribution.

  8. Those in the sprint car also look like the fuel bowls are facing the left hand turnsssssss......

  11. I hate the fact that they reproduce both of these intakes. So they are not so rare anymore. At least I can say mine are originals.:p This dream is kickass.

  12. I'm gonna find a 21 stud and put the Eddie Meyer on with my ford alum. Heads so I can run a pre war or post war with just an engine and wheel swap. Just will depend on what the weekend calls for.

Eddie Meyers are cool as beans but I think the edlebrock looks best on your motor.
As a performance guy though, power would win out for me most the time.

  14. Shit Batman all those intakes are killer.....I might just have to have one for the 53 flat motor going in the roadster. What ya got that would work good for it ?
Never see Joe at the LSRU so no luck on finding out about your axel status.

  15. I called joe today and never got a call back. 8 weeks now. Lame!!!!!

  16. 53 motor. Oh hell no not in a A model ford. Come on now Dennis. That thing would be killer with a 36 LB 21 stud. Even a 59a like mine. I have about 19 intakes left we can find something for that and none would work as 49-53 intakes are different. You could modify and early to work on a late.

  17. I wonder what one performs better the
Eddie Meyer, or the sling shot? Or the early Navarro racing intake I also hoarded.

  23. I got a box of goodies from reds heaters today. Intake stuff to drool over. Gonna recheck the valve lash before I install my new to me edelbrock slingshot intake. If only I had my axel back I could do some burn outs this weekend and see if I can break the rear end or trans or motor. Well I guess I better go easy and get those rings seated right. Then it's off to hypersonic speed with grandpa.

That truck bed full of intakes is quite the find. I couldn't find even one of those in this god forsaken town or state!

  30. Wow joes done with the axel. Now just have to wait till middle of next week for it to arrive back to hyperville. I'd like to say I'm happy, but after 8 weeks It's hard to be.
I will get it all bolted up bleed the brakes and take her for a spin. Fingers crossed.
