I know that this is a tough concept for those who feel that they must control every image they themselves deem to be a danger to the survival period correct rods and customs but nothing here is required reading. You really don't have to look at anything you don't want to. I have gone to many threads here that I didn't enjoy so I just went to a different one. There will be no test, no grade, no diploma, and no certificate of completion. Nothing you see here will void any license you hold nor will you have to pledge allegiance or associate with people you do not like. You will still be able to build what you like even if you see an image that makes you uncomfortable, even if you see a period correct add that doesn't have a period correct rod or custom in it. Those of us who grew up in the period and participated in the automobile activities revered here occasionally saw other things. We actually used products that were not necessarily directly related to our cars but became related by our use. Things like picnic baskets, ice chests, whiskey, tobacco, beer, soda, surf boards, rifles, shotguns, handguns, camping equipment, mini bikes, go carts, condoms, golf clubs, tools, and more. We owned these things, hauled them in our rods and customs and we drove to the places where we participated in their use or misuse. We can still enjoy a bare bones A roadster or a chopped '50 Merc but these things are interwoven in our life experience. Nothing in this thread takes away from the authenticity of the H.A.M.B. in fact it just is a place to share some harmless images from the day. Ads for things we remember maybe from the old magazines stashed in the boxes under grandad's work bench, or pasted on the walls to keep the West Texas wind from blowing the napkins off the kitchen table. They may have been some of the first things we read without being ordered to by a teacher with a ruler in her hand. Maybe they were among the magazines or other ads in the gas stations where we had our first jobs. Maybe they were in the trunk of an old car we bought. At any rate they are only fading ink on yellowing paper. Just period correct images that were part in forming the culture that spawned the hot rod and customs of the time.
A lot of "OT"accommodations have been made here I hope this thread will be allowed to stay.

Steffen - Cutaway & X ray drawings are the best! The '63 'Vette shows the same basic frame & suspension used for nearly 20 years after the 1963 debut.

Like the parts catalogues: When a single part says "Fits 1955 to 1986".

1936 Cord. Very simplistic ADs for what was an exclusive car.

And with photography. At this time very unusual. Most drawn, as we see in this thread.

With over 200,000 members, if we allow to just have at it of the list you posted it does affect the authenticity of the HAMB and it's core focus.

If you find yourself unable to understand that or a tough concept to follow then maybe the HAMB is not for you.

    .

I can understand both sides. Always the same problem in all forums ... Editors want to keep it on topic and focused. Writers like to think outside the box and see relationships between themes that are not so obvious.
So you will always have discussions whats on or off topic - this also belongs to a forum and at the end that discussion also helps people to get a better understanding of what we are all talking about.
I hope everybody developes further by such discussions.

Seen from "outside" the "insiders" are anyway a bunch of nitpickers
