The front discs on the Young by were make by Fred Krugger a Belguim custom bike builder, I think he's up there with JJ as far a building farout custom bikes http://www.krugger.net/
[ QUOTE ] We've been talking about a side road trip down to Marrieta from Charlotte Goodguys to check out the place (about 4 hours ?). They said no problem for a shop tour. Anybody want to hook up? [/ QUOTE ] Let me know when you are comin down here and we can hook up. I have been wanting to go there for a while.Im about 2 hrs from there. JAMIE
Hey Allen the roadster still looks great, I bet it felt pretty cool too! I"m guessing this was before the quickchange let go!
Youngs stuff really blows me away!If I had J.Lenos dough I go to Young for a bike.Wouldn`t even allow an OCC one in my collection.Last few years at Daytona I drewl and at Y bikes.Hardly look at the rest of them. Wednesday night they are going to build a "FLORIDA" bike! Hope it`s not too ugly and doesn`t fall apart. Eddie Trotta is the builder, the seat was done by Jeff Phipps.Phipps has done several street rods int. for me.He`s the messia for the Goldchainers. That Motorcycle Girl shit really blows. JR...
Zero's Amber Trophy is the most beutiful bike ever, and the Rod Riguez from Paradise road, sheeit! The Japanese Rock!
I have a theory on the whole J.Leno thing. Personally I think Discovery went to Leno(due to his notoriety), and said hey we have these two lunkheads that build motorcycles. You've probably heard of them - Jackass and Jackass Jr. Anywho we need something to boost ratings, so whattya say we get them to build you a bike. Whattya want, you pick it, we'll pay it. Have 'em on the Tonight show when there's a lull in guest spots. Win-Win situation. Whattya say Jay buddy, pinky-shake? I just can't see Jay Leno sitting around scratching his balls and saying - "Well gawddamn, I just gotta have me one of them there OCC bikes." Especially saying the guy has a garage shop that blows theirs away anyday, and staff just the same.
Yeah its all the mercury laden fish they eat in Japan. Sets them a little screwy in the head, just the right enivornment for rocked out ideas.
[ QUOTE ] That Motorcycle Girl shit really blows. [/ QUOTE ] Yes it does, it was some BS as well. Having roadraced for years, there is no way they would put her out there with the experts her first race. And where was the riding school? On the other hand I kinda dig the painters, they were at least real...
We'd be leaving from Charlotte. Dont want to hijack this puppy...we can put something up later when the time comes. Sorry!
Coolest part of the whole dakmn show was when Chica and Johnny were "drawing in the air" and designing the bike. Chica especially, as his ideas were flowing like Niagara and Johnny was trying to keep up. The handlebar scene was also very cool. I most-appreciate seeing how these bikes are designed and how parts are fabbed, regardless of how the bike comes out. I don't like many of them when finished, but there are some parts/procedures I really dig. Scotch~!
I love the part where the embroidery man is a fuckup because he ruined the size of chica's logo. Chica should have went in with a drawing with sizes- That bike is cool, I seen it at the LBC cycle swap a couple of times
Hank has definitely built some of the baddest bikes in the past 2 years. The "Flying Pan" is one of my favorite bikes of all time. Saw it when he debuted in Daytona. All the gang at Youngs Choppers and Hot Rods are just laid back, good ole southern boys. Here's a pix where he let me sit on the LUCKY 13 in Louisville.
Hank Young builds some nice biles and rods.Onme day if I have some cash I would like to get a young bike built.
