This past weekend i made a good score at the local you pull it yard. They had had a 59 Edsel there. I was short on money but for 12 bucks i got the center grill ring and the power steering pulley off of the Y-block. I plan on going back this weekend and pulling the 292 Y-block out of the Edsel if it is still there. The center grill section and the pulley are both worth over a 100 each. so I think I got a great deal. Lets hear about some of your "great finds for cheap" Pics below of the grill, and pulley (before and after a cleaning and painting)
If anyone wants any parts off the Edsel let me know.. I will gladly go pull the parts and ship them out. The Edsel was a 4 door and the rear end and dash where already gone.
Got lots of deals for my OT cars over the years.. I find showing up on a hot day with a cold case of beer is a good start.
T-10 out of a '63 Galaxie w/shifter, got it for $45. Sold the next day without even taking it out of my trunk for $400.
The steering box, pitman arm and column out of 57-60 F-100's is a popular choice for hot rodders. Same exact box as the 53-56, except the pitman arm has the tapered tie rod end instead of the ball end. All else is the same, the pitman arms are even interchangeable.
Last week I found a nice 40/50 window unit bullet style a/c. What did they call them ? Thermanator? Also found a set of stainless steel high dollar glass pack style mufflers with header pipes. They were never installed. I visit the metal scrap yard nearly every week. Also found a 28 studebaker grill shell that was nice last week.
Buddy of mine just got a set of '56 Packard taillights in a you-pick yard. I would imagine he has under $50 in the pair.
I got all the stainless trim off of a 58 packard hawk(1 of 588 built!), and the window trim off a 41 ford. and last week i got the tail lights off a 60 rambler ambassador for 20 bucks
2 winters back grabbed a pair of straight drop Fentons out of a '54 Chevy schoolbus. $25. Sold to a fellow in Michigan for $225 and he was pretty thrilled. Bought a lot of welding wire and cut-off wheels!
390 FE fresh rebuilt, bored 0.040 over, huge cam, forged aluminum flatties, fresh built machined heads, new water pump... $180.
Just picked up a Moroso 18" degree wheel with all the necessary hardware plus a 0"-1" dial indicator & magnetic base for $25.00 at a garage sale this morning. All the stuff was in the original boxes and appears never to have been used.
Last Tuesday I found a nice set of Callaway (Big Bertha War Bird)/Lynx (Black Cat) golf ball bats in the trunk of a Crown Vic. Nice Ping putter, too. BUUUUT... I don't golf. So I left them there for someone who does to find.
