sad thing is when i lived up there in chi town i never couuld get anyone to take me.late 60s early 70s. but i still can hear the radio commercials in my head.lucky for me i moved back up there in the late 80s for a yr or so and took my 55 to gld.i got to run her there and thats something i will never forget.

I brought this back up because three people were shot and killed there last night. There were 5000 people there for an event including gang members from both Chicago and Milwaukee when apparently one from Milwaukee shot and killed three from Chicago which shut down the event for the night. Just f*****g incredible, and so sad to read. Drag racing is one activity that really brings people together. Of course, with what's been going on in Chicago recently it's not particularly surprising that gun violence has spread out to even a drag strip.
Damn, grew up at that drag strip. No gangs at the strip then, just gear heads, sad to read this. Times are a changing.
