Hey fellow H.A.M.Bers I know of a small Machine Shop back home in College Station/Bryan Texas that has done me a wounderful Job everytime I have taken a job their way and have treated my friends the same way. As I know and yourself, we take pride in our Hot Rods and how they run and look is represenative of who we are. They even do machining of several Model-A and Model-T parts. Exapmle...Water Pumps, and reworked and updated Distributors along with having a full service machine shop. They have been know to even work on an WW II P-38 Engine for a guy in Cali. These guys are very good at what they do. So here is the number and Name of the shop. If you need something machined and your not close, don't worry they ship and receive from around the world all the time. VILAS MOTOR WORKS __________________________________ John W. No problem...I'm picky as well as my friends so this is a very good place to get quality work done...And the owner is retired Military so we are good.
Hey thanks for the info! I will probably be taking a trip over there in the near future. I have been getting some machine work done in the Austin area but I sure get some stange looks from most of the shops when I need staight 8 stuff done!
Thanks for the recommendation. It always makes me nervous to have motor work done by someone who you don't know. Is their turnaround pretty reasonable? Pricing worth the drive from Austin? Thanks again! -JOYO
Yes the pricing may or may not seem expensive but quality is their forte...The workmanship is tops.. They have just finished a few engines that will be running the Cross County Indurance Race in South America or Europe I believe.... One engine is i believe is a 1958 Lincoln, I took them my Brother's two Hemi Engines..331 Chrysler Industrial and a 270 Super Red Ram they and came out perfect. So I recommend them to everyone. The owner. John Vilas is retired Col. in the Army and is a member of the The Brazos Model A Club. Not the same forum as here but engines of evry aspect is his job. Great shop guys.
Another good thing about John Vilas if anyone needs anything to do with vintage Studebaker's John is an expert, he owns a few.
Revhead thats it but it is on the sidewalk in front of the building. Place has an excellent rep. Only place in B/CS area I would use.
