Once in a while you have a good day. Yesterday was one. Got to the Lincoln Area Street Rods swap meet a little late but that's normal. Handed off my deuce deck lid to Little Howard for louvering, Got to sit in Howard's deuce pickup which is one of my favorites. (can't fit in it but I'd still like to own it) Then off to the Midwest Deuces spring meeting with old friends. After the meeting I tried Howard's pickup again. (maybe with some adjustments to the seat?) It was a good day.
Hey Gary, I'm getting to the age where just about any day on this side of the dirt is at least a pretty good day! The weather is starting to warm up here and car shows are right around the corner. I'm looking forward to a good Summer.
I did fit in the 32 pickup I had listed.because of the seat. Plus it had cruise control. It now lives in Florida.
Yes it was a good gathering at the Midwest Deuce meeting & especially like the 90 th anniversary tag toppers - & while the swap meet was small I was shocked at the 32 body pieces available, picked up a 32 beep horn, ,stay rods, & a nice 32 bumper with brackets to replace my Sport coupe rear that was drilled for a license plate at some point. Saw 3 or 4 other bumpers, hood tops & sides, front & rear aprons, mouldings etc, even a spinking of 3 window odds & ends. Neglected to inquire as to whether Speedway Motors has planned anything special for the 32's 90 th. ann. the rumor was an effort to gather 32 examples to display at the museum, I would presume this would coordinate with the 70 th. anniversary of business & the completion of the museum expansion which has the main foundation under way.
I am doing another roadster. Can't help myself, I have lost track of how many this is. I had Andy's Restoration move the p***enger compartment back 2.25 inches and lengthen the doors the same amount plus rolled the front edge of the doors like a 35/36 roadster. Like or hate it I'm using a Wanless windshield and top. I'm debating whether to leave the rear horns with a stock tank, bob them short and used a curved spreader bar at the rear edge of the body or bob them completely and use a thin rolled pan? I have a built Flathead, 5 speed and quick change rear for this one. At my age it may never get finished?
Gary I was on the fence myself regarding the rear frame horns when starting my roadster project, I chose to keep the horns.............but, ...................... This car could be a guiding light for you, not that you need any guidence.
Glad you had a good day, Gary, abd I agree with sidevalve - any day on this side of the gr*** is a good one!
My current Henry roadster has bobbed horns with a rolled pan. I have done 2 other cars the same way in the past. I was looking at Dale Grau's current project a deuce 3 window and he is using the curved spreader bar with shortened horns.
