Counterfeit spark plugs are flooding the car parts market and probably destroying more engines than we realize
I’ve just seen this too. I just bought a set of NGK’s and noticed the packaging had a special tag in them indicating authenticity. I wish someone could identify specific manufacturing differences too. Anyone can print a fake tag. after reading this article I guess the biggest problem is they aren’t making the electrode out of iridium. The electrode is melting and parts are causing engine damage. The only solution I see is not use NGK’s or at least check them after 50 miles and look for melting electrodes.
There was an an***rust lawsuit not too long ago about spark plug manufacturers. I wonder if the companies who make the knockoffs filed the suit. Actually, it was a while back, but it was a HUGE settlement... https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/ngk-...price-fixing-and-bid-rigging-automobile-parts
