My stude has the best sounding exhaust ever & a lengthy Google search provided no answers about what they are.
They have 2 numbers embossed on them, # 23052 and# 89049. You would think a simple web search would turn up sumptin. I presume they are Turbo type?
What can you guys come up with.
    Thanks!

You'd think a post like this would have some pictures? If the numbers don't mean anything, we gotta have something else to go on...

Could just be normal mufflers and the stude engine makes the best sound ever..

Crawl under and take a couple of pictures.
I know that stock Avanti exhaust have always had a pretty good sound.

The original Walker replacement mufflers for the turbocharged Corvairs were a great sounding muffler. And spawn of all future facsimile's. The original # was 21348, no longer valid. That # comes up something for a Subaru nowadays. Could be a similar muffler for a turbo'd Stude.

Studebaker V8's have the best sound regardless of muffler choice. If Hemi's sounded like Studebakers people would shoot each other for them!

indyjps and speedyb have it right, Studebaker V8s do have the best sound regardless of muffler

Well I finally dug out the floor jack, maybe these will help.
Thanks for your interest guys. Do you suppose the sound is partly due to the firing order? Are the center exhaust ports connected on the heat cross over side like many GM motors?

They look about as generic as a "turbo" muffler can be.

but this is probably not the same part, the ones you have probably were from the nameless distributor that supplied the exhaust shop with their pipe and mufflers.

  13. Looks like a short case too.

One reason they sound good may be because they are all rotted out inside.
New ones might sound completely different!
