Hey, Brad here, new guy from Houston. I've been reading the HAMB daily for a couple of years, thought I'd finally speak up. Let me be the first to say that I'm no craftsman and truthfully I'm a pretty sketchy mechanic, but I absolutely love old cars. Guess you might say I'm a driver. I love the open road in an old Ford. I caught this affliction from my Dad and have been lucky to enjoy it with him for about 15 years so far... Heres to 15 more Pop! Heres a couple of pics of my cars... And one of my current project. I picked up the red 5 window at last years Fathers Day Swap. Has turned out to be a total basket case, everything was broken on this car (was in storage for 40+years. rode real hard and put up broke). But she'll be ready for the Round up this year. Anyway sorry for the Ramble...Brad
Hey Brad, I live by Hobby Airport. Joined a few days ago. Do Falcon parts and info to Falcon and Mustang guys. Got my old 40 Ford 2 Dr back after 30 years. Looks like I will be building a 40 soon. Have car show in Pearland every Friday / 7 pm at Lowe's, 518 and Pearland Parkway...weather permitting. Hope you can bring one of your cars if it is reasonable distance from your home. Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. Jim
Thanks for the welcome everybody, lots of Texas HAMBers! Haha Dirty Joe... I know what you mean. I didn't get the basket, but I got a basketful of crap now. So far a radiator core with a 6 inch square hole that doesn't line up with anything, 3 sets of cracked heads( evidently caddy 331's had a cracking issue on the drivers side only), a torque tube that was drag raced 15 years without a support bearing, two lasalle synchromesh units and 2 miles of blue wire(maybe 10 gauge?), the whole car was wired with it. I keep going back and forth between being awed that a 17 year old kid could put the car together from scratch in '57, and being amazed that he did not die in it. But I'm putting it back pretty much the way he had it so I'm not that nervous.
