Hello folks, the names Swampy and I live in Essex in Great Britian. I own a 1962 Mk2 Ford Zodiac which I have recently bought to restore/kustom, it is my first project and so should be quite a learning curve. I have recently completed a ten week basic MIG Welding course at a near by College, and am just coming to end of another ten week introduction to Vehicle Restoration course [basic panel beating, leading, filling and priming/spraying] and then just have to build the drive/hardstanding, buy a MIG welder and compressor and then start the work...lol...not alot if you say it quickly eh...
...hopefully, if I have got this right, below should be a couple of piccies of the car...ideas for over thenext few years include shaving the panels, lowering [would really love to bag it if possible], roof chop would suit me-thinks, and a V8...but for now it is get all the paint off and make all the panels solid get it rolling and on the road...once it is usable it can be worked on whilst I can at least enjoy driving it...:D

...I'll leave it at that for now...do not want to go on too much for first post...and have lots of stuff to look at on the forum anyhow...;)

    Safe journeys all,
    Swampy

  2. A Mk2 with a jack up kit & chrome 5-spokes!! Man, that thing been parked since the 70's?

I loved Mk2's, I had a rusty PA Cresta many years ago...

Welcome to the HAMB from a former NW London guy, now in Nor-Cal.

Keep us informed of the progress, lots of other English folk on here too.

    :D

    Cheers dude,
Good to be here....I know it is going to be a long haul with the car...but reckon it will be worth it in the end. Crestas are cool too, seen a couple of nice ones so far this year at various shows. NW London to Nor-Cal...you lucky man...keep thinking of possibly moving the family myself, but my two eldest girls are in the middle of exams...so not a good time...and did look into America...but the whole "getting in" thing is so long winded and complicated...especially if you do not have family or such like out there...would love to work in a Hot rod/Kustom shop...been in Engineering since I left school, run CNC lathes and engravers at the minute, and loved every second of the courses I did at college with regard to welding and bodywork. Guess I'll wait till the girls are a bit more grown up and setlled then see what we can afford to do... ...in the mean time I'll just get stuck into the Zodaic and try to forget about $4.00 a litre unleaded we are having to pay over here, and look forward to getting out there and enjoying just cruisin' around...cannot wait...:D
